Texts for analysis and reflection

"... On this day, driven by the need to do something, Clyde entered the drug store. Seeing the cashier in a small glass booth at the entrance, Clyde asked who they were in charge of selling soda water here.

The cashier liked his timid, uncertain manner and his deep, imploring eyes; she immediately guessed that the boy was looking for a job.

Yes, here is Sikor, the store manager, ? she said.

Clyde went up to him, and not yet fully understanding how to act when you want to achieve something in life, but seeing, however, that this man was absorbed in his occupation, he stopped, shifting from foot to foot and stood until finally the manager did not feel that someone was behind, and did not turn around.

What's the matter?" He asked Clyde.

Tell me, please, do you need an assistant to sell soda water?

Clyde's look spoke more clearly than any words: "If you have a place, I would so like you to take me! I really need a job!"

No no no, ? he replied.

This strong blonde was by nature somewhat irritable and grumpy. He was about to turn away from the petitioner, but seeing in the face of Clyde how deeply disappointed and upset he asked again:

Have you ever worked in such a place?

Not in such a fine store, sir, ? replied Clyde, amazed at the splendor that surrounded him. ? I work at Mr. Clinkle's now, but it's not like yours, and I'd like to find something better.

Mmm, ? muttered the interlocutor, slightly flattered by this innocent tribute to the superiority of his shop. ? Which is quite reasonable. But right now I can't offer you anything. We don't change employees often. But if you want to become a messenger, I will tell you where you can get a job. Here in the hotel they just want to take the boy. The head of the messengers told me he needed another one. I think it's no worse than helping the water seller.

Then, seeing how Clyde's face lit up, he added:

But don't say that I sent you, because I don't know you. Just look for Mr. Squires there, under the stairs, and talk to him.

At the mere thought that he might get a job in such an imposing establishment as the Green-Davidson Hotel, Clyde opened his eyes wide and trembled with excitement; then he thanked the adviser for his kindness and left the store down the aisle that led to the hotel lobby.

He approached the young man behind the desk and asked:

You can't tell me where I can find Mr Squires.

And here he comes, answered the young man. ? This guy wants to talk to you, ? he explained.

Do you have business with me? ? asked Squires, turning to Clyde and surveying him with keen, searching eyes.

Clyde didn't like the man very much, but decided to make the best impression on him.

The gentleman from the drug store told me... ? started Clyde, ? that is, he advised me to apply to you ... maybe, for my happiness, you need a messenger. I work as an assistant in a drug store, but I want to leave there, and that gentleman said that you have a free place.

Clyde was embarrassed and bewildered by Mr. Squires' cold, searching gaze that he could hardly catch his breath. For the first time in his life, he thought that if you want to succeed, you need to win over people, do or say something that would please them. So, gathering his courage, Clyde smiled ingratiatingly at Squires, and added:

If you will only let me try, I will try my best.

The man in front of Clyde only looked at him coldly in reply; but since he himself was cunning and knew how to achieve his goal in various roundabout ways, he liked anyone who possessed dexterity, resourcefulness, and the ability to talk with people. And instead of refusing, he remarked:

But you don't have any experience in this matter, do you?

No sir, but I will learn quickly, I will try very hard!

Well, okay, I think, ? said the head of the messengers. ? Now I have no time. Come Monday evening, I'll explain your job duties."

IN modern society people often change their jobs. Today it is not a shame to work in one place for no more than 5 years. You will not be looked askance if you are looking for your place in the sun. What are the job search methods? Read about it below.

How to find a job

Have you recently retired? Or maybe you just graduated from university and don't know where to go. What are the stages of a job search? Effective ways to find a job can be divided into several points.

  • Resume writing. Before you think about where to find a job, you need to think about what knowledge you have and what you can offer the company. Write your resume. How should it look? You can find a standard form and make your resume according to the template. But this option is not welcomed by all companies. HR managers pay a lot of attention to how a person positions himself. You need to get creative with your resume writing. Write down everything that you think the future employer might like. Be sure to mention your work experience, if any. Write your best qualities that will help you stand out from your competitors. It is advisable to tell short stories in two or three sentences that will show you with better side.
  • Posting and mailing resumes. After the document is drawn up, it must be sent. Send resume to various companies, post it on the relevant sites. But do not wait for a miracle and wait for responses. If after a week you still haven’t received a call from your dream job, call there yourself and check if your resume has reached you.
  • Do it yourself on the Web and send out your resume. Feel free to call and ask about vacancies in those companies in which you would like to work. Managers do not always update vacancies on time, it is possible that there are vacancies in the company and you will become the first candidate for an interview. Ask your friends and family, maybe they can give you some advice. You can ask your former colleagues who changed jobs if their company needs employees.
  • Passing an interview. The last stage of the search is direct personal contact with the management or manager. Good resume- this is not an indicator of your abilities. Try to be confident in a personal meeting and not worry about whether you will be hired or not. Remember, there are always options. Don't go for the first option that comes along. If you worry too much in an interview, you will make a bad impression.

Internet

The best way job search is an independent study of all possible vacancies. You should look for them on the Internet. Today there are many sites, for example, Avito and My Advertisement. Such virtual spaces allow you to find work in any specialty and with any skill. You need to select the appropriate section and subsection. This way of looking for a job involves looking at not one source, but at least three. Do you think jobs are the same everywhere? This is a false statement. All employers place their job search ads on different platforms. Yes, they can duplicate jobs on a few popular sites, but not all. In order to find a job, it is not enough to look at ads once a week. Jobs appear every day. View ads and make your responses.

You can find the job of your dreams not only on specialized sites. What are the ways to search for a job on the Internet? Need to view social media. In the official groups of large firms, you can find up-to-date information. You can view groups of those companies that interest you. Be sure to pay attention to contextual advertising. If you persistently look for a job for 3 days, then links with a job offer will periodically pop up on your monitor. Don't ignore them.

Newspapers

It's easy to find a job if you live in major city. And if your registration is in the provinces, and you don’t want to leave there? Ways to actively look for work in this case is to look at local newspapers. Such printed editions published weekly and updated regularly. Browse various periodicals. They will offer all kinds of vacancies, which will be divided into subsections. But keep in mind that the management of companies does not always know in which section to advertise. Therefore, all should be considered related areas his profession. The main ways to find work in newspapers is to carefully study all the columns. It's easy to find a job if you don't have a specific area of specialization. It is much more difficult to find a vacancy for a person who wants to work in the profession received at the institute. Therefore, do not limit yourself to finding your niche only in newspapers. Consider other options as well.

CV Submission

One of the most popular job search sites today is hh.ru. On this site, every person applying for any vacancy must leave their resume. Then you should find those offers that will interest you more than others, and respond to them. Your resume will be considered not only by the companies to which you applied, but also by those that are interested in your candidacy. Such modern way job search makes it easier for both professionals and managers. But this approach has not only pluses, but also minuses. You will not receive personal communication with leaders or managers. It will be possible to get acquainted with the working conditions only during the interview. But often wages play an important role for people. In the ad, it may be one, but in reality it is completely different. And as a result, it turns out that a person spends a lot of time on interviews that are completely uninteresting to him. But still, there are certainly advantages. You may be noticed by those who are interested in your candidacy. You can receive a request not only from your city, but also from neighboring regions. It is very difficult to monitor work in a big city on your own. So for a person from the province, thanks to such servers, it is quite possible to sign up for an interview in the capital or in another large city.

Agencies

Ways to search for a job via the Internet are very convenient, but they do not always help you find your place in the sun. And then agencies come to the rescue. Such institutions are engaged in selecting ideal candidates for a particular vacancy. Turning to a specialized agency for help, you will definitely be sure that the job that you will be offered will not turn out to be another scam. It often happens that a person finds a job as a lawyer on an ad and signs up for an interview. But in reality it turns out that the office is engaged in trade and all that it can offer the candidate is the position of a manager. There is no point in wasting your time on such dubious organizations. Agencies screen employers and candidates. So getting a pig in a poke will no longer work. And this fact is very exciting. Therefore, contrary to popular belief, one of the ways to find work and employment should be an agency. It gets its money deservedly, as it gives guarantees for the services provided.

Events

Do you like to attend various secular parties and take all kinds of courses? For some, it may be a discovery that attending such events is one of the most effective ways to find a job. People who have gathered at the opening of an art gallery can invite a guest to become their employee. If a person is interested in finding a job in a certain area, he will be able to find out from specialists at a free-form party how to start a career and where it is most profitable to do it. At events, it is not a shame to talk about work. People come to these meetings to socialize and get to know each other, so don't consider going to museums, galleries or courses as a waste of time and money. Think of these trips as another way to find your place in life.

The search for rational ways to organize career guidance work can lead a person to courses. For example, if a girl has wanted to become a florist all her life, she can take a two-week training, and then talk with her teachers about employment. Teachers of this kind of courses always have a wide circle of acquaintances, which allows them to quickly find employment for their former students. If you are not sure that you will get a job after graduation, ask this question before you pay for such courses.

Bypassing potential jobs

It's one thing to look for a job as a manager, and quite another to try to get a job as a doctor or teacher. An effective way to find work for those who are looking for something specific is bypassing budget and commercial establishments. It is rare to find a vacancy for a dentist in ads, but with direct contact with the management of one of the clinics closest to your home, you can get a good idea of the situation throughout the city. If there are no places for you in a particular hospital, you will find the telephone number of the polyclinic where the vacancy is open. Not always budget commercial organizations touch. Therefore, you should go around two or three different establishments. Based on the information received, it will already be possible to draw a conclusion about where it is better to go and where you should not go.

Such detours can be made not only for those who are looking for work in a specific specialty. If you want to work as a salesperson, go to the nearest grocery store and call the manager. Explain to the person your situation, tell about your work experience and ask if there is a vacancy for you. Face-to-face communication builds trust, and the person will do everything in their power to help you.

Job fair

If you have already tried all the methods and methods of finding a job, but the experience was not successful, then you can wait for the beginning of the next quarter. Job fairs are held every season in all cities. At such events, you can find work in any specialty. If you are a doctor, beautician, builder or librarian, feel free to go to a job fair. At these events you can get detailed information about most large and medium-sized urban companies. Each visitor will have the opportunity to communicate with managers or heads of companies. You can immediately go through something like a mini-interview. You can ask any questions and get clear answers. You don't have to stay long at one table. You can exchange contacts and promise to send resumes. If you are really interested in any vacancy, you can immediately sign up for a full-fledged interview.

A job fair is a place where students and graduates of institutes can come. Young specialists will be able to get jobs in the specialties they are interested in. If students do not have work experience, they can be offered paid internships or the position of a specialist assistant.

Labor exchange

Don't want to look for a job on your own, or don't have the money to pay an agency? Then one of the ways to find a job is the labor exchange. Of course, not anyone can join it, but only those who have not yet worked, or those who have been fired. If you left the company own will, the road to the exchange is closed to you. But everyone else is welcome there with open arms. All sorts of methods and methods of finding a job take a lot of time and effort. By joining the labor exchange, a person gains more than he loses. First, the minimum wage will be credited to your account on a monthly basis. Secondly, you will find vacancies in your specialty in trusted companies. Thirdly, if you can't find a job, you will be sent to the training of your choice free of charge. Some people even manage to cheat by joining the labor exchange on purpose in order to take any courses for free. You can learn to be a cook, a seamstress or a hairdresser. Specialties, of course, will not be university, but after the courses you are guaranteed employment.

Poll of acquaintances

One of the ways to find a job is through connections. In our country, people often get jobs in this way. If you have someone you know in the administration, at the labor exchange, or in some big company then feel free to contact him. There is no need to be shy here. It will not be difficult for a person to find you a suitable place, and you will need it. Think you don't have connections? Everyone has them. An adult who has studied at school and at a university can find acquaintances through acquaintances. Talk to your friends and classmates. Perhaps one of their acquaintances has a place that they can hold for you. Don't be afraid to reach out to your teachers or mentors. Students can't always find a good place without work experience, and teachers can help them solve the problem. Think about your colleagues or friends. Finding them will be easy thanks to social networks. Chat with friends, and then ask if they have a suitable job. Why does this type of employment work better than others? Friends know you and are aware that you are a competent specialist. This is how you will be presented to the management of the company. And when the director of the enterprise has the opportunity to take a trusted person or look for someone who may not be suitable, he will make a choice in favor of you.

word of mouth

What other ways are there to find a job? Looking for a job through friends is a good option. But not everyone has an uncle in the administration or an aunt who is a school principal. Those who are less fortunate will have to achieve everything on their own. How? Should be earned good reputation. This job search option is suitable only for those who are engaged in freelancing. Specialists need to collect a strong portfolio, and then go with it to all kinds of offices. If you are a good artist, then start your own blog or post your work on Instagram and VKontakte. Thanks to your creative approach, you will be able to earn your first subscribers. It is these people who will be able to bring you the first money, and then popularity. Create to order, create just for fun, but remember that you need to do not only what you like. Draw for people. You need to recruit your audience, because it is thanks to it that you have a chance to become famous. People who make music, paint, dance, or invent creative ideas for business development, can make a name for themselves through their efforts. You need to offer your talents wherever they can be in demand. Be sure to tell all your friends and family about what you do. And on occasion, mention your field of activity to your new acquaintances. Only after you make your name known will it work for you. Until then, you will have to work day and night to earn a living. But such a game is worth the candle. After working for two or three years, you will not think about where to get a job. You will be able to earn on what brings you pleasure. When a hobby is a job, we can assume that a person does not work. A free schedule and the ability to plan your day the way you want will be a nice bonus.

There is such a pattern - hired work takes about 8 hours a day, and looking for work an hour and a half a day. There are rare cases when people spend 6-8 hours a day on employment, but it is this approach that allows you to find a job in 5-10 days.

Of course, not everyone needs such speed. if you have free time, you can act slower, calmer and look for a job for months. The matter is voluntary.

This article is about how to find Good work. The quick job search technology consists of 4 steps.

your desires

What do you dream of or just want to do? To begin with, you need to decide on this - this is the basis for further actions. When answering this question, follow these rules:

  • Distract from your present activity (especially if it does not bring you pleasure or does not meet any conditions)
  • Leave alone your previous experience. After all, it may be that you want to become a teacher, and you have great experience work in construction. And what then, all my life to work as a builder??
  • Create a very comfortable, cozy environment for yourself. Do you like to spend time in the country? Go there, fire up the stove, sit back, feel free. Or you have a favorite cafe, go there, order a coffee and remember what you like to do.

Naturally, all the ideas that come to mind should be written down. It is also possible to remember, but it is better to write it down - so for sure nothing will be forgotten and not distorted.

specifics

The ideas received from your consciousness and subconsciousness need to be turned into reality. That is, set goals.

If you want to help children, then this is not necessarily a job in kindergarten. It can be the organization of holidays and the invention of educational games and medicine and the construction of playgrounds and ... There can be a thousand such options. You need to choose 1-2 of the most interesting and enjoyable of all that you see.

To do this, look at job sites, read newspapers, talk with your friends (or strangers). In this case, you need information from those people who have already done this. Then find out how at least roughly in the labor market the activity you have chosen is called.

The labor market often thinks in terms of certain clichés. Nobody is called engineers, marketers, programmers. But in each organization, these specialists do different things! Few jobs are the same.

When you have decided on the approximate name of your specialty, select companies that work in this area. By researching companies, you'll learn a lot about what you want to do and what's going on in the industry right now. If you see that there is little information on the site about the company's services, do not be lazy, call the manager in the sales department, ask him about the company's services. Communicate, learn, explore.

Choosing companies is one of the most important steps! At this stage, a clear goal of employment is formed. It is a clear and specific goal that helps to quickly find a job.

Preparation

Specialization is selected, companies that deserve you are also selected. Now we need to prepare for a future meeting and negotiations with the leaders of these companies.

Well, to business!

  • A compelling and attractive resume. I previously wrote about how to write a good resume. Once again in a nutshell: structured, in simple and understandable words, clearly and, preferably, on one sheet of A4.
  • A well-written cover letter.
  • Thoughtful appearance. This handyman or taxi driver can come to an interview without thinking about the first impression, and you, I hope, have a different opinion about yourself.
  • Responsibility. First of all, punctuality! Be on time and keep your word.
  • Positivity and attitude to success. Are you on the phone with a company representative? Smile! Came to the interview, look more often in the eyes, again smile and glow from the inside. Positive people are remembered.

Active actions

You have a vision of the specialty, a list of companies where you want to work and you are ready to search for a job. We must act and be persistent.

I want to mention one point right away, the search for vacancies is a maximum of 20% of the result that you can get. That is why the article is titled active job search that the emphasis is on your initiative and not on how many open positions are currently on the market. Moreover, there may not be any vacancies at all.

  • Call the company and meet with the head of the desired department or HR manager
  • Submit your resume there. Sending a resume to a specific person (in the letter you need to call him by name) gives you a higher chance of success
  • After sending your resume, be sure to call the company and find out if they have received the letter.
  • Gently ask when it will be convenient to call and talk in more detail
  • Thank the person on the other end of the line and record the next date of contact in the diary.

Do you know what this method of action gives?

You will be remembered! And this is already half the success.

Negotiation

Jean-Louis-Ernest Meissonier, The Game of Chess, 1841.

If before the interview the task was to arrange a meeting, then at the interview the task is to convince the manager that the company will need you and will be successful at work.

There are many books, articles, tips and trainings about how to negotiate. I wrote an article on how to prepare for an interview. Here I will give only 2 negotiation tips: show the boss a desire to work in this particular company and convince him that you will be successful and worth the requested salary. Persuade management, "sell" yourself, bargain.

Warning

My job search method does not answer the question "How to look for a job?". This method does not guarantee 100% success. This method gives self-confidence and allows you to find “the very job” (and maybe business partners or startups - who knows how things will turn out in the negotiations).

I assume that in 1 out of 7 companies you will find a job. But different arrangements are possible.

In the program "YOUR WORK" Chief Editor TV channel "STEP OF RUSSIA" Gleb Mordovchenko and the head of the recruitment agency for job seekers "IM Consulting" Alexandra Grak discussed what mistakes job seekers make when looking for a job. Read about the difficulties of writing a resume and passing an interview, as well as various strategies and channels for finding a job, in this issue.

- Tell me, what are the key, most important and most terrible fatal mistakes people make when trying to get a job?

First of all, I would simply divide the errors into several stages - as they occur. The first is the lack of a clear understanding of their positioning in the labor market. When we go looking for a job, but we do not understand our value to the market. This is exactly the story when "I'm looking for a job, just to find some kind of job." Unfortunately, that doesn't work right now. It will take much longer than if we know exactly what we want.

The second is, accordingly, the lack of a search strategy. It looks something like this: we do everything and everywhere, but these actions do not lead us to any result. And the third - when we are already mistaken in some trifles: we do not prepare for an interview, we do not disclose information in a resume. This is already the implementation stage.

- Can you give a few examples from life, how it happens in reality?

In reality: for example, when a candidate says that he wants to find a job, but he does not know who he wants to work with, what this job might look like and what, in principle, he is ready to do to find a job. But at the same time, he sends out an insane amount of responses to all vacancies: from the chief accountant to the ballerina. Naturally, it is not taken anywhere.

- Fine. It turns out that you need to do in advance and think about finding a job before you write an application to CEO about dismissal. Is it so?

This is true. And one of the most probably correct and competent strategies is to think about finding a job before you quit. And in general, it’s not very good to burn bridges like this, to part with the company, maybe not on the most positive note.

Of course, most job seekers enter the labor market while still employed. And this allows them to comfortably part with their current employer: to warn in advance, to hand over cases, to receive, perhaps, some recommendation from the employer, to keep a good relationship and later enter the market - either in search, or to a new employer. Here is what works well. If we just abruptly quit our job and then started looking for a new one, then this strategy is usually a failure.

- Let's then talk about what, in principle, should be in general view job search strategy.

A job search strategy as a whole begins with the fact that we must think about who we want to work, where we want to work and how we want to do it. After that, understanding who our employer is, we select the channels that we will use: job search sites, recruitment agencies, social media. That is, how are we going to look for such a job. And depending on which channels we use, we already need to prepare the tools. For example, the same summary.

- Fine. And what are the key mistakes that applicants make at the stage of preparing a resume?

At the stage of preparing a resume, there are actually quite a few mistakes. First of all, this is the desire to put as much information there as possible. Then we get a huge resume that HR does not read. They just don't read. This summary is over two pages.
Accordingly, the second option is a very short summary. The opposite story. This is when a couple of lines are given from the series “I worked as a chief accountant from and to - I completely led everything, was responsible for everything.” No specifics. This also doesn't work now. Lack of just contact information can be a fatal mistake. That is, they will not be able to contact you, no matter how cool your resume is.

Well, a resume is such a complicated thing that ... It turns out that not everyone understands what it should be. And even fewer people understand how to do it right. What are the ways, tools, possibilities for compiling a resume: maybe there are templates, maybe there are specialists who know how to do it better? Please advise what is the best way.

Of course, there is a lot of information on the Internet regarding resumes. In part, this is good, because there really is a lot of it. But in order to collect it, “digest” it and get something really working out of it, it will take a lot of time.
You can use a template: for example, go to the same hh.ru and fill out a resume in the format that the site offers. You can turn to specialists: for example, career consultants. We at the agency help with resume writing. And here it is just important to take into account the peculiarities of each particular applicant. If we are just talking about some template standard that you found on the Internet - it is general, it will not give you a structure that suits you better, it will not offer you a volume that will most fully reveal your experience in a resume. If we are talking about such point work, then, of course, you always need to take into account the individual characteristics of the experience.

- Fine. The resume is ready, HR read it, looked at it and even approved it. You have been called for an interview. Do you need to prepare for it?

You have to prepare for it. And yes, of course, a resume is the road to an interview. An important stage, but the interview - this is where the fun begins, because here we come face to face with the employer. And we need to prepare, because, again, there are cases when an applicant comes for an interview and does not have information about the company, does not fully understand the vacancy. Such an interview is a failure. Therefore, preparation is half the success.

- What should be the preparation? I am Vasya, I am going for an interview at Romashka LLC. What is important for me to know exactly, to prepare, so that I can at least pass this interview well?

First of all, you need to understand what kind of company, what is accepted there, what are the standards. And everything that concerns your work: if you are in sales, then what is sold, what place they occupy in the market, what is the specificity of the product. That is, you need to go, of course, ready precisely in terms of professional content in the first place and knowledge about the company.

Next, we prepare from the point of view of culture, that is, we can predict a little how the interview will go if we know what the corporate culture of the company is like. Most often, this information can be found on the website or in social networks (now this is very relevant, many companies are doing it) and see the style of communication, how things are going. And a little, maybe, somehow adjust your manner of presentation at the interview.

- That is, if you go for an interview at the Black Star company to Timati, do not go in a tie and suit - it is customary there. Well, the interview is underway, and there is such an important stage (as far as I know, very key in the West) - these are recommendations. Here in Russia is it important, is it accepted, does the applicant need to prepare them?

Recommendations are definitely important. And the employer starts checking the recommendations, as a rule, after the initial interview, that is, either after the second interview, between some stages, maybe.

What is important here: our task as a job seeker is to prepare, to warn those who will give us recommendations that we are looking for work. If it was a long time ago when we worked with these people, then recall: when we worked, who we worked with, how successful they were. That is, to suggest, maybe a little, what would be right to convey to those who will call. If it is possible to take some written recommendations upon dismissal, this should definitely be done. And this can simply be collected as a kind of piggy bank to show at the interview.

Is there anything else worth taking with you? Portfolio, maybe some diplomas, something that confirms the qualifications. Or is it a line in the resume and nothing more?

Of course, it depends on the field of activity. If you can show something (in design it can be a portfolio), then this is a must. For other specialties, this is not so relevant. diplomas, work book, all certificates can be left at home, they will take your word for it.

- Some employers (including me) like to ask the applicant at the interview to briefly tell about himself. How much do you need to prepare such a mini-thing about who you are, what you can do and how important you are for the employer? How critical is it, how necessary is it?

Good question. And you very rightly noted: indeed, employers expect to hear such short presentation or a story about yourself. Most often, at an interview, this is the very beginning of the meeting, when HR or a representative of the employer asks you to tell a little about yourself in order to get to know each other.

Here the main mistake (we are talking about them today) is, again, some kind of excessive presentation. And it happens that the candidate begins to either retell the resume, or talk in great detail about his experience - he tells in turn about all the places of work, what he did there, and this stretches for 20-30 minutes. Attention is already lost literally in the second minute. That is, it seems that he answered all possible questions, but there was no dialogue, no conversation. And this, of course, is also not a winning strategy, so preparing a presentation literally for one and a half to two minutes includes the most basic aspects - about your qualifications, maybe about education, why you are looking for a job, what attracted you to this particular vacancy . This is what has the employer for such positive communication already at the interview.

Fine. Well, the interview was plus or minus successful, and the applicant and employer move on to the most interesting part - to the bidding, to the negotiations about the cost. Here the question is: how can an applicant correctly assess himself in the labor market - not to sell too cheap and not to become on the same level with labor migrants, but also not to set himself a salary that no one will ever give him or hire him? How to evaluate yourself correctly?

A good question, because it is rather difficult to evaluate yourself correctly in the current labor market, simply because there is a very large spread in terms of wages, and the spread is many times. It really is. First of all, what we recommend: look at the job market as a whole. Not only the vacancy where you are going for an interview, but in general - what is expected in this position, how much employers offer such specialists. This is the first step.

Next, we go to the market of applicants (the same hh.ru will help us), we can see what our competitors want. Because one thing is our expectations, and another thing is that we must fit into the market not only from the side of applicants' proposals. It is important for us to understand both sides of what is happening there. So we can see what competitors want.
Well, and such a very small life hack: if we go for an interview for a specific vacancy and understand that the specialist for whom we are being interviewed has quit recently, then we can try to find his resume in the public domain, see how much money he wants .

- Fine. Very important question, we touched on it in one of our programs about leaders: how important is networking? That is, significance in the media space, behavior in social networks, the ability to make some kind of connection - how much is it necessary for an ordinary, ordinary job seeker, and what mistakes do they make in this part?

Let's start with the mistakes. Just the main mistake is that, as a rule, networking is not used. And this is really a great way to tell the world about yourself, your friends, that you are looking for a job and what exactly you are doing now, what you are doing, what you can be useful.

And, again, this is one of those stereotypes that networking works only at the level of top management and only for executives. Not this way. If you are looking for a job, absolutely any - office, linear, you studied with someone, went to some courses with someone, attended some events, your former colleagues, work colleagues. You can also tell them about it, and it is quite possible that they know someone, have heard or seen something. Therefore, networking also works great in this case.

- The following question: does an ordinary, ordinary applicant need a personal brand in this case?

A brand, probably, in such an understanding of a global brand is not needed by an ordinary applicant. But take care, for example, of your reputation in social networks - please. Because many HR social networks are watching. Therefore, it is desirable that they be sharpened for job search. Of course, you should not post only professional information there, but you need to remove something compromising.

- Well, God bless them, with the accounts of the applicants themselves. And can social networks help in finding a job, in finding vacancies? Does it work or is it all unimportant, and you need to go where the vacancies will be posted?

Well, vacancies can just be posted on social networks. In general, many companies use a socially oriented policy, go where the people are, where the applicants are, thus reducing personnel costs, including for themselves. That is, it is also beneficial for the employer - to go to social networks to people. And there are a lot of profile groups, we can use the same Facebook, where you can get acquainted with vacancies, you can post your resume. Therefore, this channel also works.

So it would be a mistake to forget about him.

It will be a mistake. Another thing is that it is not suitable for everyone. For example, looking for a job as a builder or accountant on Facebook will not be so successful. If we work in the IT market, PR, marketing - everything that is somehow connected with the Internet, this is the first place.

- Well, we talked about the mistakes that applicants make. Let's say a few tips, a few life hacks that can make life easier when looking for a job.

First of all, in short, we formulate our value; write a short resume up to one and a half to two pages; we tell all our friends and acquaintances that we are looking for; we post resumes on hh.ru as a job search site; preparing for an interview; we know our employer and go for an interview with positive attitude sure that we will be taken.

The education and professional experience of the applicant are of primary importance for obtaining a prestigious and highly paid job. However, ceteris paribus, a person who has correctly built a job search strategy will select a suitable vacancy faster and at a lower cost. Obviously, it will be different depending on the education, specialty, specialization, qualifications of the applicant.

Common job search methods include: 1. Search through friends and relatives.

2.Search through job advertisements in newspapers.

3. Placing your mini-resume in specialized periodicals.

5.Search through the Internet.

6. Direct proactive appeal to a potential employer.

7.Search through recruitment agencies.

8.Search through government centers employment and their job fairs.

9.Search through the structures of universities dealing with the employment of students and graduates and their job fairs. Search through friends

The method is especially good for those who have a wide network of professional and personal contacts. The main thing here is to provide your resume to those who agreed to help you. Your acquaintances will have specific information to promote your candidacy to a potential employer. Search through newspaper ads

To find suitable job, buy newspapers with job advertisements, carefully choose more or less suitable vacancies (do not be alarmed that the ad contains work experience of 3 years and an age range of 28-30 years, because it will be quite enough for an employer to find experienced young professionals difficult) and send your resume. Today, almost all newspapers in the region publish information about vacancies. There are also specialized publications, for example, the newspaper Work for You, the weekly Vakancy. Placing resumes in periodicals

This method of job search is used quite actively. Of course, you need to place your resume not in any newspaper or magazine, but in a specialized source of information. It is possible to place an owl resume on the websites of recruitment agencies. Moreover, unlike the first option, no fee is charged for posting a resume on the agency's website and the minimum time is spent.

However, once you place your resume in a newspaper or on a website, you don't have to stop there. Today, the number of people looking for a job is so great that personnel officers often simply do not have time to look through all the resumes. Internet search

There are a number of popular sites on the Internet that post jobs and mini resumes. In recent years, more and more professionals find their jobs through the Internet. In addition, today many organizations have their own web servers, which expose information about vacancies, as well as an e-mail address for receiving a resume of a specialist. Some organizations provide an opportunity for applicants to fill out a questionnaire in electronic form. The information contained in the questionnaire is automatically distributed in the organization's electronic database. Corporate websites may be of interest to job seekers who are interested in getting a job in a particular firm or a range of firms. There are Internet resources dedicated directly to young professionals. This resource covers a range of issues in the field of employment and professional growth that arise for students and graduates. On the sites you can find:

News and events in the field of professional growth and job search;

Graduate programs, vacancies, internships in Russia and abroad;

Information about employer companies focused on attracting young professionals;

Legal aspects of labor activity and job search;

Articles, studies and other analytical materials on Graduate Recruitment issues. Direct proactive appeal to a potential employer As a rule, resumes are sent to the addresses of enterprises whose vacancies have been previously selected. However, you can go the other way. If you want to find a job in a certain specialty in a particular company, send your resume to the addressee. Even if you do not immediately get a job, there is a high probability that you will be taken into account and invited for an interview when a suitable vacancy opens. Staff turnover is inevitable. The only question is the waiting time.

Such tactics can be used by young professionals who do not have work experience, but who expect to get a job in a reputable company. The only problem is that, according to statistics, for a hundred resumes sent out in this way, 2-3 responses come. Thus, if you have chosen the tactics of direct mailing, then there should be many enterprises - addressees. However, do not apply for several vacancies at the same time. Your resume should be directed to one job posting. Otherwise, the employer may doubt your professionalism.

Search through public employment centers and their job fairs

There are always a lot of vacancies here. However, in most cases, these are working specialties, or vacancies with low wages. For a young specialist, a more productive way to find a job is through job fairs held directly at the university . Search through recruitment agencies

Having sent out resumes to agencies, it should be understood that job search is a probabilistic process. It is necessary that there is a vacancy, according to the requirements of which you are suitable. Recruitment agencies, most often, receive applications from prestigious organizations. This explains high level applicant requirements. After studying the requirements of the employer, the agency searches and selects candidates, where the first offer recommends the three most suitable applicants with work experience.

As practice shows, only really qualified and experienced workers have a real chance to find a job through recruitment agencies. The rest, including young professionals, are usually included in the agency's database.
