Test Nikon Z7. Came to accelerate the evolution...

Without reflex cameras came to stay, take over the world and change it. To deny that the focus of users - professionals and amateurs - as well as the market has shifted towards mirrorless, is simply silly. And it is strange that the heavyweights of the industry were the most recent to introduce their mirrorless full-frame cameras. At the end of 2018 year Nikon under the loud slogan Mirrorlessre invented its first mirrorless full-frame cameras.

Fujinon XF 80 mm f/2.8 LM OIS WR Macro lens: the first of its kind

We waited! Finally, the owners of the Fujifilm X system received a full-fledged macro lens and have been quite happy about this for half a year, because before they managed only with a “half-breed”: the Fujinon XF 1: 260 mm f / 2.4 R Macro macro lens, released back in 2012. Why "half-breed"? It's very simple: the zoom ratio of this macro lens is only 1:2 (one to two!), which looked rather strange for Fuji's top series of mirrorless cameras.

Nikon D850 SLR camera test: decides everything? Start loving her right now...

It is pointless to argue that at one time the Nikon D800 was not just an outstanding camera, but a breakthrough on the scale of the entire photographic equipment market. It would seem that everyone has already forgotten about the race of megapixels, and here is a gigantic resolution packed into a 35-millimeter sensor. Landscape painters began to massively switch to eight hundred, studio photographers too. The D800E released in parallel caused some confusion. Which camera works better, why do we need a moiré filter, if without it it’s only better, how adequate is the difference in quality to the difference in price.

Toshiba Electronics Europe predicts storage trends in 2019

Where are we going to store so much data? Thanks to engineers and programmers, the capacity of disk media is getting larger, and combining them into efficient storage systems is easier. Thus, the problems that we face today have become easier to solve. But given the forecasts for the rapid acceleration of data generation by machines, such as autonomous vehicles and smart factories, and given that humans have already created huge amounts of data, including backups, can we produce enough storage for the needs of the next decade? Or will we have to think about a more ruthless approach and make decisions about what can be left out?

Fujinon XF 80mm f/2.8 R LM OIS WR Macro lens review

The Fujinon XF 80mm f/2.8 R LM OIS WR Macro doesn't have many reviews yet and quite a few tests, so I decided to correct the situation, especially since macro lenses are my element and I use them all the time. The new Fujinon XF 80mm f/2.8 R LM OIS WR Macro essentially opens up a whole new direction for macro photography in the FUJIFILM X-mount range. it is the first macro lens of this format with a 1:1 scale and with the most convenient focal length for most situations. Prior to this, the X-mount system had the XF 60mm f/2.4 macro, which only gave a scale of 1:2. Anything can be considered "macro", but in fact 1: 1 is optimal for any more or less demanding macro photographers. On a smaller scale it is difficult to shoot something unusual. And there was a ZEISS Touit 50 / 2.8 at a scale of 1: 1, but not very convenient in the field macro due to the fact that it reached a 1: 1 scale at 0.15 m focusing distance.

Portrait is a very popular genre in photography. And, perhaps, there are no photographers who have not taken portraits at least once in their lives. This is also a difficult genre, it has a lot of nuances, depending on the type of portrait. For example, it is difficult to compare business and children's portraits. All species basically have one similarity - people in the frame. But the background, clothing, choice of models and work with them also depend on the type. And when it comes to psychology, it's time to write a whole encyclopedia on shooting.

The perfect storm on Lake Baikal. At the very end of November and in December, the strongest storms are on Baikal. Several winds can blow at one moment. Last year, I myself observed how in the north of Olkhon the North-West (or, as it is also called Sarma, Gornaya) blew from the Small Sea, accelerating along the Uzurskaya padi and pulling out in a separate stream into the Khaga-Yaman Bay. Behind Cape Izhimei, the low clouds of Kultuk were powerfully pulling, tearing low-flying clouds to shreds. In the Big Sea, opposite Olkhon, the water boiled and bubbled. A wave was moving into the bay in a dense formation. One by one. And every ninth rolled ashore to almost half of the pebble beach. All clothes and camera covered thin layer ice from water splashes, which were quickly seized by a 25-degree frost. But it was impossible to tear oneself away from this spectacle. I was fascinated by the power of Baikal. The rhythmic roar of the waves, the howling of the wind and the drumming of the stones rolled by the surf created a polyphony that introduced into a trance. One could listen to this symphony for hours, forgetting about the cold and the piercing wind. This went on for two days. On the third day the wind died down...
