Since 2013, Gleb Sergeevich has been appointed First Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of Russia. In his post, he oversaw the planning, implementation and budgetary support of state programs, state policy in the field of property relations, including the preparation of annual plans for the privatization of federal property of organizations, corporate policy in the field of activity of the Ministry, project management information systems.

In addition, he supervised the development of state support measures for the export of competitive products of Russian manufacturers, coordinates the implementation of the principles of the best available technologies, ensures the implementation of non-tariff regulation measures, coordinates the Deputy Ministers on the issue of interaction with countries and international economic, industry and regional organizations.

Gleb Nikitin was a member of the Collegium of the Military Industrial Commission of the Russian Federation. Also, he was a representative of the Government of the Russian Federation in the Russian tripartite commission for regulation social and labor relations.
