How to decide to change jobs psychologist's advice. Changing the terms of the employment contract at the initiative of the employer

What reasons drive a person who decides change job? When making a decision to change jobs, a person is guided by a number of reasons, from reasonable and rational to reckless and unreasonable - they didn’t like it, outgrown it, got bored, quarreled, underestimated, underpaid ...

There can be many reasons, and if you are increasingly thinking about changing jobs, this is normal, you are not alone. According to various sociological surveys, despite the crisis and lack of jobs, about 50% of employees want to change jobs Russian companies. What pushes so many people to change jobs and what are the main reasons for changing jobs?

Should I change jobs? Reasons to change jobs

Work does not promise promotion and does not provide professional development

Career ambitions are increasingly becoming the reason for changing jobs. An active and energetic person striving for a result, and not content with the process of work itself, is unlikely to be satisfied with work without career opportunities(if we are not talking about acquiring experience, which is usually obtained in small firms). Such people are discouraged by the lack of career prospects, because they strive for self-improvement, they want to move forward, develop and apply new skills.

If your job is holding you back from reaching your full potential, suffocating your potential, you need to consider how to find a job, which suits you in this regard.

However, you should not trust only your feelings, whether there is a prospect or not. Try to talk to your immediate supervisor, find out about real prospects. Of course, he will not reveal all the cards to you, but he can outline the possibilities in general terms. Turn on insight, and the picture will become clear - you will understand where promises need to be multiplied, and where to divide. Then make decisions - “Should I change jobs?”

Work makes you unhappy

Your work should be interesting to you, it should excite and captivate you. If it’s the other way around, the thought that you have to go to work makes you feel sad or depressed (and it’s not just ordinary fatigue and the fact that you haven’t been on vacation for a long time), if you are at the workplace every now and then look at the clock and count the minutes until the end of the working day, you feel overwhelmed and sick, and disappointment is blocked positive emotions that you once received (or still receive) from this work, and the former enthusiasm no longer smells - it's time to seriously think about job change Because you can't be stressed all the time. Whatever step on the same rake and find a job that you like, read the article - " How to find your calling?».

Work doesn't align with your values

If the work does not match moral principles and beliefs, tastes or characteristics of your character, you are unlikely to succeed in this area.

If you don't know how to lie and you find it difficult to deceive a person, the job of a used car salesman is definitely not for you. Do not like gossip and gossip, you have nothing to do in the editorial office of a yellow newspaper, no matter how puffed up you are, the dislike of digging into someone else's dirty laundry will sooner or later become the reason why you decide to change jobs.

Problems in the team or conflict with management

Another reason why people ask the question “Should I change jobs?” - Strained relationships with superiors and colleagues. This environment has a negative impact on productivity and does not allow you to fully concentrate on the performance of work. The conflict needs to be resolved.

As for the authorities, one must understand that even a good leader rarely evokes warm feelings, you still have to obey him, and obeying the personal will of the boss is far from the most pleasant occupation. So think about it is it worth changing jobs? and run away from a bad boss, because who knows what a surprise awaits you in a new place. It may be better and easier to try to build relationships with the old boss than to build them with the new one. If you are not satisfied with the neighbors on the landing, you are not in a hurry to change your place of residence. So treat the leader in a simpler way, for example, as the inevitable vagaries of the weather.

Psychologists advise to see a person in the boss - with his experiences, weaknesses and attachments. Find neutral topics for conversation, find out what he likes and doesn’t like about people, and take this into account in the future.

If you can't find mutual language, then analyze how difficult it is to work in this environment and whether it is worth it at all, and after that decide whether to change jobs.

It is more difficult to deal with discontent in the team, because their feelings are more unbiased. Be neutral (especially if you are just starting to work in this team or are on probationary period ), do not respond to aggression if you answer, answer firmly but politely, do not succumb to manipulation, do not open up too much and do not discuss your colleagues (especially in their absence), if you criticize, criticize constructively… (there's a lot more to say). And remember, you are not necessarily one of those who adapt easily. If your work team resembles a serpentarium and hostility only grows every day, then you will have to change jobs.

The job does not meet your financial needs

The main reason why people come up with the question is “ Whether to change jobs? - insufficient wage.

Some hoped for growth when they got a job, but they never waited, others had their salaries cut in the process labor activity, for some, the company's wage policy is not equal to the market and it has not been indexed for years. The reason for changing jobs is understandable, but a few points are important here. The first is to understand whether there is really little money or hurt pride speaks in you. The second is to make sure that your price as a specialist is more than you are paid, and to find out if you can find a better job than before. And third, imagine that tomorrow your salary will be increased, i.e. think about whether this is the only reason (small salary), and if so, then you should ask for an increase in pay for your work.

In most companies, the reaction of management to the professional growth of an employee and to an increase in his duties is rather slow, and the authorities act according to the principle - they are silent, which means everything is fine.

If you, being a valuable employee, ask your boss for a raise (directly or hinting that you have received a profitable offer and ...) and you are ignored, while you are sure that you will find a better place, it's time to think about changing jobs.

Work negatively affects your health

Remember, you can't buy health! And even if you don't work for nuclear power plant and do not extract coal in the mines, this does not mean that nothing threatens you. Disorders, worries and chronic stress can harm your body even more than chemical waste, a working day spent on your feet without a chance to sit down can lead to foot diseases, and working in a damp basement can cause lung diseases. So it is very important to assess the real damage to health. If your work is harmful to your health and it is not difficult for you to change it, it is better to do so.

Desire to change careers

It happens that in the process of work comes the understanding that we are not doing what we would like. If you think you've done career choice mistake, do not treat this as something that forever determined your fate. Change jobs, change professions. What is the problem?

If only in the fact that in the current field of activity you have achieved a lot, gained experience, established connections, but there is nothing of this in the new one. This is a big risk. On the other hand, if you find a job in your desired specialty, it will surely give you a boost of energy and will fuel your interest - which at first compensates (albeit not completely) for the lack of experience and skills. In any case, the desire to do what you love is a worthy reason to change jobs.

Not on the shoulder

Sometimes people change jobs because of the great responsibility that falls on their shoulders. It happens that someone, having reconsidered his views on life, decides to devote more time to himself and his family, so he changes his job to a less stressful one (Downshifting is a conscious change from a more prestigious job to a less paid one) or even goes into freelancing.

Or it happens like this - when getting a job, a person overestimated his capabilities (he could even deceive or embellish his abilities). He may have known that he could not cope, but he really wanted to get to this place. As a result, work becomes torture for him.

Naturally, if something does not suit you, but by and large you like the job, this is not a reason to change jobs.

Psychologists, in order to make the right decision about changing jobs and not make a mistake, offer a simple solution - take a sheet of paper, divide it into two parts with a line, and in each of them indicate the pros (reasons to stay in the same place) and cons ( reasons to change jobs). Take into account and write down everything that you like or dislike, from the time it takes road to work(perhaps instead of finding a job in Moscow it is better to limit your search and look for a place in your city) and to the credibility of your company in the market.

In general, if you decide that there are more reasons to change jobs than reasons to stay and they are good enough, then go ahead and look for a new job. Good luck with this!

A favorite and decently paid job is one of the main conditions for the well-being of most of us. And we do not seek to change anything without noticing that something is irreversibly changing around us: new people are coming, working conditions are changing, new tasks are appearing, wages that once seemed quite acceptable are depreciating. But many of us prefer not to notice that it's time to change jobs and move forward until the situation becomes absolutely unbearable.

Meanwhile, a job change requires good preparation. And you should not search for the best vacancy when you are absolutely exhausted physically and mentally. And then, when you are still able to slowly consider your actions and, based on your experience, start looking for a job that will satisfy your professional ambitions. What are the signs that it really is time to change jobs?

You don't have enough time to live

Suppose you systematically climbed the corporate ladder, gaining experience and raising your material status. And everything seemed to work out, only now the pace of life grew so that gradually there was no time left, and, most importantly, the strength to spend the money earned with taste and generally receive at least some joy from life.

Or another situation: you never aspired to become a boss, but as a result of upheaval, a change in the company's management, the departure of experienced employees and the arrival of young ones, you became one. And now you literally burn out at work. You feel that you cannot relax for a minute, that all the responsibility lies with you, and more and more work, and the pace is only growing. And at some point you realize that you belong to yourself only at the moment when you take a shower in the morning and in the evening. But you are used to getting a high salary, and the idea that not everyone manages to take such a high position does not let you stop, and you continue to run like a squirrel in a wheel. Do you really want to continue living like this?

You are not promoted

It happens that the work, in general, suits, and the tasks are interesting, and everything turns out. But a year or two passes, and younger employees become your bosses, and no one is going to advance you through the ranks. It’s even more annoying if you were preparing to take on a more responsible post, and the authorities even let you know that you were expected to be promoted, but when the coveted position was vacant, someone else took it.

This is a serious reason to find a place where you will be appreciated more. By the way, experienced personnel officers advise career-oriented specialists not to stay in one place for more than 2-3 years. It is this job change schedule, in their opinion, that gives the fastest and most reliable career growth.

Your opinion is not valued, and the most exciting tasks go to others

Let's assume that you didn't aspire to be a leader. You would be quite happy with the position you are in. Only recently all promising and creative tasks, during the implementation of which you could fully reveal your potential, they are not entrusted to you, but to someone else. You get the most routine and uninteresting work.

Or even worse: you used to be part of the pool of specialists that executives always invited to meetings to discuss the company's development strategy. Now, these meetings are dispensed with without you, and colleagues have ceased to be interested in your opinion.

Don't waste your nerves trying to figure out why you fell out of favor. But, most likely, this is a clear signal that you need to look for another job.

You are getting paid too little

Face the truth: are your labor costs equal to the salary you receive. Sometimes a low salary is justified if you work from home, remotely, and your terms of reference are such that you manage to do all the work in just a couple of hours a day, and devote the rest of the time to your business and hobbies. If you fully devote yourself to work for 8 hours a day, then the salary should be appropriate.

There are, of course, exceptions. Sometimes work brings so much satisfaction that people are ready to do it literally at their own expense. A political scientist I know, an expert on terrorism, drug dealing and nuclear weapons, who constantly flickers on TV screens, honestly admits: “Despite the fact that I don’t know a more exciting job than mine, you need to understand that political science and work at the Academy of Sciences can be considered solely as leisure, if you look at all this from an economic point of view. Political science brings absolutely no income. Therefore, I am forced to realize myself economically in some other area, outside of political science. I like teaching. I have been teaching since the age of 16 in English and developed his own methodology, which is now distributed via the Internet. This allows me to do what I love - political science."

But if you are still working not so much for interest as for money, then learn to clearly understand the moment when wages cease to satisfy you. And then do not pull, but immediately go look for another job!

You have deeply personal reasons for changing jobs

There are many other reasons for changing jobs, and the main thing is to be well aware of them, psychologist Elena Leontieva warns. She advises to approach the problem of changing jobs absolutely pragmatically.

“Before changing jobs, a person should be well aware of whether his desired goal is to change jobs,” she says. - It happens that a person in a crisis begins to change everything - breaks off relations, changes his place of residence, work. And it can lose important life support. Therefore, it is worth starting the analysis with whether the change in the place of work is the very change that is overdue. And you definitely shouldn’t rush and leave work “on emotions”, as a result of conflicts. A calm and absolutely self-serving decision must be made.”

If you decide - yes, it is professional activity that now requires “pumping”, then next paragraph it is necessary to determine what exactly is “swinging”: working conditions, salary, new options in the profession, the search for new people? Perhaps you are actually looking for a mate or friends (adults most often find a mate at work). Then go where there is a choice of free men and women, because there are always ways to inquire about the team in which you have to work. Don't be fooled by your true motivation! Being honest with yourself guarantees success.

Summarizing, Elena advises: look for exactly the place that suits only your own will. It can be very simple things - for example, a comfortable office closer to home, or a free work schedule. If you are bored with work, go where the load is greater. If you are going for professional development- look for a place where you will do something that you have not done before, something that will challenge you and ensure development. Do not be lazy to spend time on interviews, this is a very useful skill!

Leaving on time is important: life is finite and each of us does not have much time for active professional activity. So do not waste your time in vain and do not be afraid of anything!

This question often arises among people who, for some reason, are dissatisfied with their work. How does it usually work out? When finding a job in a new place, a person experiences inspiration, an increase in strength, and a desire to work. How else? New team, new tasks, the possibility of self-realization ... But then there comes a moment when dissatisfaction with one's work appears.

Is it worth changing jobs in a crisis?

Before changing jobs, you should seriously consider whether it is worth doing while the country is in crisis. We would advise not to change it if this moment your salary is high enough and will not decrease, your workplace in the future will not be reduced, and the organization will continue to exist.

But if layoffs are coming, both jobs and wages, which then you will not be enough to live on, then you should think about changing jobs, especially if you are a great specialist.

Reasons to change jobs

The main reason for changing jobs in the first place is employee dissatisfaction. salary. The next reason is the desire to change the field of activity. A person suddenly realizes that what he is doing at the moment is not at all what he dreams of. Further, the lack of career growth, the possibility of self-realization and the routine in the organization, when nothing changes from year to year, may also be the reason for changing jobs.

Psychologists generally recommend that men change jobs every 7 years. Tensions in the team can also serve as a reason, sometimes it is better to change jobs than to try to clarify relations with some colleagues or superiors.

It is also worth taking care of a new job in advance if there is a threat of layoffs to your position. Irregular working hours, a wide range of duties, the negative impact of certain factors on human health can also be a reason for changing jobs. And yet - you just do not cope with the tasks assigned to you.

How to decide to change jobs

Many people sooner or later experience a period of dissatisfaction with their lives. Everything seems like an uninteresting routine, and life seems to be passing by. Work brings neither pleasure nor a decent income. Missed opportunities will not return, time wasted and misused.

Such a decadent mood is often inherent in people who go to the service under duress. Every day they suffer from the need to perform uninteresting monotonous actions, a strictly regulated process. At such moments, the thought comes to mind: should I change jobs? Not everyone can take this responsible step. And in order to leave fears, experts recommend:

  • Highlight the most negative moments in the old job.
  • Determine your individual requirements new service.
  • Analyze your inclinations and abilities that will suit the conditions of the new job.
  • Study the market of offered vacancies and choose the most suitable ones.

Perhaps such an algorithm of actions will help to decide on serious life changes.

Reasons for changing jobs

Inducements to change the place of service can be conditionally divided into subjective and objective. The purely personal reasons include tense relations with superiors and conflicts within the team. Such situations arise, as a rule, due to the large amount of work that requires considerable physical or moral costs. Joint rest of colleagues in an informal setting or the help of narrow specialist psychologists who will conduct special training on team building and raising the spirit of work will help to eliminate such incidents.

External, objective reasons that make you think about the need to change jobs include the lack of career growth and prospects, a small salary, etc. Let's look at each of the reasons separately.

Complete stagnation and no growth

Each job is valuable not only for wages, but also for the possibility of career growth and expansion of prospects. And if, despite the diligent performance of their duties, an employee cannot be promoted, this may cause his displeasure. In this case, one of the ways out of the deadlock that has been created may be to move to another duty station.

The complete stagnation in the service can also be attributed to the suppression of any initiative of the employee by the authorities. The boss does not seem to see the desire of the subordinate to grow, and in some cases forbids taking all sorts of steps towards progress. Rational proposals, new ideas and non-standard solutions are perceived by the authorities as a desire to stand out, to curry favor. This happens if the boss (due to some subjective reasons) treats the subordinate with prejudice and without sympathy. If negotiations with superiors do not bring the desired result, then the only way out of the situation is to simply leave for another duty station.

small salary

The most common reason for changing jobs is low pay. Even if the specialty is chosen to your liking and the work brings moral pleasure, a small salary can be a serious motivation to change your job. In addition, the salary may not match duties. In other words, one person can do the work of several employees. Unfortunately, this situation occurs in almost every enterprise.

Of course, in private companies, the possibility of negotiations with the administration regarding a salary increase is not ruled out. In case of an unsuccessful conversation, you can quit.

The situation is more difficult in budget organizations. Here the salary is fixed and its increase is possible only in case of career growth. Of course, there are all kinds of bonuses and cash incentives, but they, as a rule, go to selected employees. In this case, an attempt to change jobs to a more promising and paid one is the only right decision. At the same time, you should be sure of a successful outcome and have no doubt that you can find a job where they will pay more than in the same place.

Change of leadership

As you know, a new broom sweeps in a new way. And new bosses may want to pick up their team of employees, giving old employees a clear signal that it's time to quit. The problem becomes especially acute during the crisis, which the company is going through for a number of reasons.

With the change of leadership, the style of leadership also changes, and as a result, the conditions and rules of work. The atmosphere at the enterprise becomes nervous and tense. All this happens because the new boss needs to get used to his new status, and the employees need to get used to the new leadership. Some workers cannot endure uncomfortable conditions and prefer to quit and look for another job. How to change the service, how to make the right decision is a priority problem that arises before a person. And the main thing here is not to panic and confidently go to the goal.

Fatigue and hopelessness

Working for 14 hours a day, it is difficult to be in good shape all the time. Sooner or later comes chronic fatigue And emotional burnout. In addition, there is practically not enough time for other areas of life.

The first sign that you are burned out at work is the depressing thought that tomorrow you need to go to work again. Another sign that the time has come to change something is the increased frequency of colds and depression. Due to constant malaise, a person becomes irritable and conflicts not only with colleagues, but also with household members.

When you wake up early in the morning and say to yourself: “I want to change jobs,” this is a sure sign that such a change is needed. Otherwise, the feeling of fatigue and hopelessness will haunt you for a long time. As a result, not only the health of the employee will suffer, but also the results of his professional activity.

Dismissal

There are other reasons to change jobs. It happens that an employee is forced to fire. This fact is perhaps the most unpleasant reason for changing jobs. The motives for dismissal can be different - from the dissolution of a department or an entire company to the liquidation of a position. In this case, the main thing is not to panic and not look for the culprits of your problem. Even if you were fired due to non-compliance official duties, this is a good reason to analyze your mistakes and draw appropriate conclusions. Also, this situation helps to understand whether you want to stay in the same area or radically change the field of activity.

Dismissal is unpleasant not only to the dismissed, but also to the one who dismisses. For most bosses, this step is not easy. But if this has already happened, you need to conclude that you should say goodbye to this company and seek happiness in a new field.

Basic steps in finding a new job

When you make a firm decision to change jobs, you take a certain risk. To minimize it and achieve your goal faster, it is recommended to adhere to the following algorithm of actions:

  • First of all, you need to understand what exactly you want - to change the place of service or field of activity.
  • Before you change jobs, you need to study the supply and demand market. For a successful search, you should analyze what skills and knowledge are required to perform certain duties, what new vacancies are opening.

  • When you try to change your place of service, it will not be superfluous to recall your connections acquired at your previous job. Colleagues and acquaintances who work for other companies can be an important source useful information.
  • Having collected necessary information, it is recommended to make competent summary, which will describe all the advantages of you as a professional. It would be useful to remember the place previous work, and position.
  • After compiling a resume, you can send it to employers who have submitted vacancies. It is very good if the resume is submitted along with cover letter, which indicates the personal merits of the applicant.

How to find a new job while at an old one

If the thought of changing the place of service constantly haunts, then something does not suit the employee. Going nowhere is a risky business. Much easier to search new job when there is a reliable rear. In this case, the search will be calmer and without much nerves.

There are several rules for successfully finding a new job while in the old one:

  • First of all, it is recommended not to advertise your plans. Most likely, the authorities will not be delighted to learn about the plans of their subordinate, even if the reasons for the upcoming dismissal are very objective. Also, if you don't find a decent option, you might change your mind. If the result of the search is more than successful, the administration should be warned two weeks before your departure so that you can find a replacement.
  • When submitting a resume on recruiting sites, it is recommended to set its invisibility. Recruitment managers often visit such online resources, and it may happen that it is specialists from your company who can view your application. Thus, information about your plans will become the property of everyone.
  • It is not recommended to browse job sites in the workplace. Also, in order to maintain confidentiality, you do not need to store a printed resume at your workplace.

  • Going to the interview, it is recommended to choose the right time. In the case of several interviews, you can take a day off at your own expense or at the expense of the upcoming vacation. But it is best to postpone the search for a new job for vacation time. Then there will be no need to ask.
  • Of course, during the interview after your phrase: "I want to change my job" - the recruiter may ask the question: "Why?" In no case should you describe the disagreements with the former superiors and colleagues. Among the reasons are a small salary, the desire for career growth, expansion of the field of activity, etc.

Change of specialty

Sometimes for a successful device for a new job, it is necessary to change not only the place, but also the specialty. Today locksmiths, turners, plumbers and other technical professionals are once again held in high esteem. On the other hand, the rapid development of IT technologies requires the presence of programmers, system administrators, and web designers. All this can be learned even in adulthood. The main thing is to find good courses retraining or dare to get a second higher education. So you can solve the problem of how to change jobs at 40, having mastered a new specialty. After all, as they say in the old movie, “life begins at 40.”

Simple rules for conflict-free care

Having found a new job, you need to try to leave with dignity. After talking with an already former employer, thanking him for the experience and joint years of service, you can say goodbye to the team. It is recommended to organize a small corporate party or just a tea party with people who helped the employee and were his faithful colleagues. When leaving, you should not miss the opportunity to meet with former associates in a common field of activity. Therefore, it is important to remain on friendly terms with the employees of the former enterprise.

How to get used to a new team

In a new team, the employee needs some time to adapt. You should be prepared that at first they will look closely at a new colleague, study his professional and personal qualities. You have to try to prove yourself better side. Friendship from the first days is not recommended. Firstly, in such a short period of time it is impossible to recognize another person. And then, the new environment may not immediately accept a newcomer to their team. It is best to show yourself as a professional to whom you can turn for advice. At first, some nervousness of the newcomer is a normal phenomenon. Over time, when the employee takes root in a new place, he will be able to fully demonstrate his professional qualities.

Good afternoon With you Elena Melnikova with a two-volume work book Today we will talk about how to change a profession.

There are not so many people who chose a profession in early childhood and remain faithful to it all their lives. Before the rest, at least once, the question of the correctness of self-determination arises. What makes people think about it?

1. You have reached the ceiling of professional or career growth.

The former type of activity has ceased to bring satisfaction. The time when you carried out complex assignments of the leadership with burning eyes is long gone. What used to be considered the acquisition of valuable experience has turned into a routine everyday life.

This can happen to anyone who has grown out of beginner's panties and exhausted their potential in this area. At the same time, some are helped by promotion on career ladder, but it is not available to others. So, for example, it was in my work with mentally retarded children.

Stability is good, but sometimes it leads to stagnation. From time to time a person needs to change something in his life. Of course, the simplest thing is to rearrange your house or change your wardrobe. But, if this does not bring satisfaction, why not dare to make more global changes? It has been proven by practice that changes in life contribute to getting rid of depression, the activation of thought processes, and therefore, the willingness to perform new tasks increases.

2. Professional burnout caught up with you.

Alas, this is not a whim or a whim, but a serious illness, where sometimes the only way out is to change the field of activity.

When I worked in pedagogy, I was lucky enough to attend a special training to get rid of this condition. It's no secret that it is work with people, especially in a post-industrial society, that wears out the body the most.

The training not only suggested ways to fill life with bright colors, but also tried to solve the main work conflicts that lead to long-term stress. If employees more often received such trainings as a gift from the management (and in our case it was so), the team would be more united, they would feel better, and the turnover would be less.

The most interesting thing is that the head teacher, who went with us to the group and gave the school about 50 years, considered these classes a whim. Still, after all, a real teacher should work selflessly, without complaining about fatigue! One day she went on sick leave and never came back.

3. The current position is dangerous to health.

Working in a hot shop, with an X-ray machine, on night shifts, or in the cold doesn't have to be a lifetime, so if your job involves a risk to your body, this is an important reason to think about yourself.

4. Large loads.

If work takes too long, comes home with you, and takes pride of place on your weekend to-do list, consider whether it's worth it.

We work to live, but not vice versa. Of course, a person who is passionate about creativity, for example, a fashion designer or an actor, does not consider this state of affairs out of hand, but if constant thoughts about work interfere with family and leisure, it’s probably time to set priorities correctly.

5. Professional deformation.

From the teacher, others expect intrusive advice, from the doctor - excessive caution and a pathological love for cleanliness. It's no secret that work really shapes our habits, needs, and way of thinking, and even determines how we are perceived by loved ones. By changing the type of activity, you will not only change internally, but also show others that your potential is much wider.

6. You have to move to another area (from city to village, from north to south), where your current profession is not in demand.

If possible, study the local labor market in advance so that there is time for retraining.

My friend, a chemist by profession, had experience working in European companies, but by the will of fate she ended up in the Moscow region. Unable to get a job due to frequent travel, she found a student and tutored on the Internet.

7. Approaching unsuitable age.

If your activity has an age limit and retirement is just around the corner, it's time to think about what to do in the future. Yes, many athletes become coaches, but related activities are not always possible. Probably, it's time to remember the dreams of youth or activate your forgotten abilities.

8. The current job is financially unstable and is only getting worse over time.

Over the past decades, the situation on the labor market has changed more than once. Those professions that not so long ago were considered a guarantee of a comfortable existence, suddenly went into oblivion, and new or forgotten old ones ascended to the monetary Olympus.

If you know how to catch a wave - good luck! If it’s not in your nature to keep your nose to the wind all the time, and the salary is less and less like money, connect your relatives, friends and the Internet. As they say, one head is good, but two is better.

9. Change in life values.

Sometimes a person wonders if his work benefits him and society. Often this is due to a change in religious creation. Having gained faith, the bartender may no longer want to prepare alcoholic cocktails, and the dancer may no longer want to entertain the population in nightclubs. Someone has an acute desire to help people or animals. In this case, you can join any volunteer movement and, if it does not tire you, look for yourself in related activities.

10. Finding a dream.

Our dreams are not always connected with professional activity, but it happens. Perhaps in your youth you saw yourself exclusively in a certain area, but then, having stepped on the throat of your own song, you obeyed the wishes of your parents or the requirements of circumstances, and now the memories of unfulfilled hopes haunt you. Or, on the contrary, just now you have realized that your whole life has been preparation for your dream job and now is the time to realize your plan.

Are my years my wealth?

If you are now 18 - 20 years old and you consider your employment as a part-time job while studying, you are in luck. But you probably aren't reading this article.

As a rule, the issue of changing a profession worries humanity at a more mature age, when youthful maximalism and adventurism have already been exhausted, and doubts - yours and potential employers - are gaining momentum.

How to decide on changes after 30 years?

For me, the crisis of the thirtieth birthday began even before the onset of this age. I did not like the city where I live, and my position is a teacher in a correctional boarding school. For my birthday, my friend and I went to a remote village to ride horses (this was my first experience), and there I made up my mind to change my place of residence and work. And everything worked out!

Six months later, I had a house in small town. It became objectively impossible to work in the same place, because at 9 pm, when the shift ended, the transport did not go to my house. Having somehow managed to get by before going on vacation, I began to look for a place closer to home and, of course, no longer in pedagogy.

Everything was decided by a randomly seen ad: "The hotel requires an administrator." Initially, they did not want to hire a teacher in the service sector, but, apparently, the ardent desire to get a different experience, written on my face, played a role. With a day-to-three schedule, I have a lot of time for household chores. But the changes didn't end there.

Increasingly, I began to think about a remote part-time job (oh, how difficult it is to find another in a small town!), And there wasn’t enough creativity in my life, and then I came across an ad from Vasily Blinov. By the way, my early articles were also written on a working computer in work time(may the former boss forgive me!)

If the cherished “I want” more and more often reminds of itself, drive away fears. As the novel Dorian Gray says, The best way overcome temptation - give in to it. Later long years we will regret what we didn't do. Well, so that I would not be reproached for advice to throw myself into the pool with my head, let's be a little more careful.

  • Make a wish list

Try for some time to write down everything that does not suit you in the old place and what you would like from the new one. Of course, all aspirations are not destined to come true right away, but you will bring some clarity to the overall picture.

  • Rate yourself

Knowledge, skills, business and personal qualities - all that has been accumulated over the past years. Shy and modest women can ask for help from loved ones. Sometimes it helps to make unexpected choices. My friend Ksenia, having worked for two postgraduate years in a veterinary clinic, was looking for something she liked for a long time, until one day someone, having tried her cake, ordered her another one. Now she has stable orders - and this is without any courses and crusts.

With a list of skills in hand, draw all possible perspectives. Even if it seems to you that the time has come to declare yourself as a fashion designer, include in the list a few related specialties, reserve on the way to the fashion world.

  • If you don’t have any moral strength to do the same thing, and you haven’t decided on a new kind of activity yet, ask friends and relatives what you could do.

Take the placement test again. It is good in such cases to read the newspaper with vacancies from cover to cover (namely, the newspaper, because on the Internet you carry out a thematic search, and in print you may come across an unexpected solution). Once I leafed through it because I had nothing to do and found my sister a job painting watch bezels.

  • Feel the ground

To learn as much as possible about your future profession, attend the necessary events, meet potential colleagues. This will help you avoid unexpected disappointments. So, one of my friends, who passionately dreamed of becoming a guide, signed up for the course, but when she found out that she would have to wash the toilets, she left the first lesson.

  • Get ready now!

Think about what knowledge you need to improve, what skills you lack for your future profession, and where you can get them. In some places, you can limit yourself to seminars and webinars, and sometimes only expensive courses can help. If your current job can help you to improve your skills, do not miss the opportunity!

  • Perhaps a related specialty will help you make a smooth transition, which will give you new skills.
  • Provide yourself with a financial pillow for the time of change, because the salary at first is likely to be less than the previous one.
  • Think about how to explain the field change to the recruiter.

If necessary, attend training sessions to increase self-confidence. Of course, a potential employer will have many questions for you. Including how you will bear the likely decline in income. A woman can always refer to a strong rear and a family-friendly schedule, a man - to savings and confidence in future success. The most important thing is to show enthusiasm for a new occupation and an ardent desire to work in this company.

  • Start compiling and mailing resumes and do not shy away from word of mouth!

We do not always have a financial cushion for sharp jumps, but it is definitely worth a try. You can always enroll in courses, take online training or look for a part-time job. By the way, if you really want something, the Universe sends help: on the way you come across necessary people, on the Internet - "random" ads, etc. it's never too late!

Not all of us are by nature great combinators, capable of changing our own reality every second. More often than not, we need to think carefully before making a decision. Changing a profession, especially in adulthood, is a serious and responsible step, but this does not mean that it is not worth stepping.

What opportunities will open up after the long-awaited changes?

Pleasant bonuses for the brave

  • Expansion of own competence

Previously, you skillfully combined debit with credit, and then your soul called you into the world of cosmetics, and now you already know so much about skin care. Of course, knowledge can be obtained at webinars and courses, but their perfect development is always associated with practice.

  • Acquisition of new qualities of character

If earlier you lacked the ability to stop a galloping horse, then, having settled down as a groom, you will not learn such a thing.

  • New acquaintances (especially for creative professions)

And this is not only a benefit, but, first of all, communication and fresh interests.

  • Horizon expansion

A person who has worked in one place all his life - perhaps good specialist. But just think how much new you will learn when, along with a change in profession, you gain knowledge, acquaintances and, perhaps, a couple more hobbies!

  • Self-realization

With all my heart I wish you that it does not end there, but only begins!

  • Increase self-esteem

Even new position not related to career growth, "I did it" is worthy of respect in itself. This is something you can and should be proud of.

  • Inspiration

How sad creative soul without fresh knowledge, skills and impressions! And finally they happened! Even if at first glance the work does not encourage creativity, the true creator will find inspiration everywhere. At least in access to a service computer or spray gun:p

  • Change in psychological status (age, self-awareness)

If it seems to you that addressing by name and patronymic adds a few extra years, or, on the contrary, the options “Helen” and “girl” automatically turn you into an eternal youth, perhaps your position is at odds with your sense of self.

Remote work is the ideal case when you yourself determine the style of addressing yourself. Form an image using a sonorous login or, on the contrary, hide behind a meaningless nickname - you choose. And the most important thing here is the assessment of your personality only according to the results of work.

  • New chart

Perhaps not the most familiar and not ideally comfortable, but you can find pluses in everything.

It is easier to plan your daily routine on your own remote work. If it is not related to calling or live broadcasting, no one will forbid you to work at night or jump up with the first roosters.

  • A dream come true

Perhaps the most nice bonus. It remains only to wish that dreams do not end there.

And, finally, any changes in life entail new twists and turns. The current can swirl as soon as you enter it. Sometimes the course of events is completely unpredictable. Therefore, I do not undertake to continue this paragraph :p
