How to connect digital television - a detailed algorithm. How to connect electricity to the house and the plot: where to go, what you need and how much it costs How to choose a Wi-Fi adapter for a computer: external and internal

Life in your own private house will not be so joyful if it does not have high-quality home Internet. A few years ago, the issue of connecting to the Internet in a private home caused excitement among the majority of potential consumers of services, since there was no decent provider who could provide a quality service. As a result, I had to use the service of cellular operators and work in the GPRS telephone network and even resort to satellite technologies with a massive installation at home.

Rostelecom is the largest company that is able to provide high-quality communication services not only through a telephone line, but also using fiber optic technology, even to a private house. Thanks to a flexible pricing policy, each client will be able to find a suitable set of services for themselves and spend a new opportunity in their home.

Rostelecom provides its potential customers who wish to provide services to their homes with a choice of one of two technologies: connection via telephone via ADSL or using fiber optic lines.

To connect the high-speed Internet service to the house, you must leave an application with the Rostelecom company. You can personally come to the office of the company, get advice from specialists, fill out an application and even pay for the first month for using the services. This method is the most convenient for the client in terms of the completeness of obtaining the necessary information, as well as a personal conversation with a specialist helps to get answers to many unclear questions.

If it is not possible to come to the office in person, then you can always use the provider's website.

To apply, you need to go to the Rostelecom website, select the connection region, follow the link "For yourself" and open the "Internet" tab. In a new window, a brief overview of tariff plans will appear, with which the user can familiarize himself and choose the most suitable one in terms of cost and features. After choosing a tariff, you need to click the "Connect" button. Next, a window will open with an application form and a list of additional services, including antivirus programs. The application form must be filled out, indicating passport data and completed by pressing the "Order" button.

What is the connection cost

Each client asks the question, how much does it cost to connect the Internet to the house? And the question is not random. Since the broadband connection is carried out to the house, the final cost is calculated by Rostelecom specialists. The price varies and depends on several factors: fiber optic or ADSL phone line, required cable length, tariff model.

Which line is better

At the very beginning of the article, it was mentioned about the choice of the client provided to Rostelecom in the use of connection technologies.

But the problem is that it is not easy for an ordinary user to make a choice. Even two choices can be confusing, so below will be a brief overview of each of them.

The ADSL phone line is suitable for suburban residents, since laying optical fiber is too expensive and takes a lot of time. However, the data transfer rate through the phone's home network will be up to 30 megabits per second, and in addition to everything, you will have to install special equipment - a router.

Optical fiber is much more expensive than a telephone line, but the quality of the connection corresponds to the money spent. The speed of data transfer on the Internet is up to 100 megabits per second, which is several times higher than the speed of the first option without the use of additional equipment.

Rates

Rostelecom has a flexible billing system for subscribers. The cost of monthly service depends on the speed of work in the home Internet network and additional services, such as television with various HD quality channel packages, antivirus programs, parental control over children's activities in the global network, rental of wifi distributors and even a landline phone. Therefore, how much the monthly service will cost depends on the options chosen.

Sometimes there are situations when the Internet provider refuses to connect the house to the global network, explaining the refusal by the lack of technical means to meet the needs of the client. In such situations, it must be understood that Rostelecom does not want to carry out expensive work because of one user. Therefore, the best way to solve the problem is to find neighbors who want to connect to the same provider and work together to submit a collective application for connection. The question of how long the installation work will take will depend on the number of applications submitted.

In order to finally decide on the chosen Internet provider and its offers, it is necessary to carefully study the market for such services, price categories, connection speeds and the number of representative offices in the city. Of course, if there was no experience in using such services before, then the choice is not easy to make. Nevertheless, Rostelecom is one of the largest in the country and is a universal option, the range of proposals of which is suitable for absolutely every client. In case of problems, the support service specialists will be happy to answer all questions by phone.

For many people, the Internet is an integral part of life. With it, you can listen to music or watch videos, chat with friends, order goods, get mass and do many other useful things.

For the full use of the Network at home, it is enough to resort to the services of Rostelecom, which today is the leader in the field of broadband. It serves more than 100 million Russian residents and offers customers quality services at an affordable price.

What is home Internet from Rostelecom?

Home Internet from Rostelecom means round-the-clock access to the Network at one of the selected tariffs. The operator has a large coverage area and its own network base with good technical support.

The choice of one or another method largely depends on the technical capabilities of a particular line, but the best option is to connect using FTTH technology.

What tariffs does Rostelecom offer?

Internet connection rates vary by region and connection speed. In Moscow and the Moscow region, access to the network is provided by a subsidiary of Rostelecom - OnLime. Its subscribers have access to three tariffs with speeds of 30, 60 and 100 Mbps.

Any of the packages costs 290 rubles per month for the first three months, after which the cost increases in accordance with the speed provided. In particular, from the 4th month, the tariff "OnLime 30" will cost 400 rubles, "OnLime 60" - 500 rubles, "OnLime 100" - 750 rubles per month.

In other regions, access to the World Wide Web is provided directly by Rostelecom, and in different cities the cost of connection and subscription fee may vary slightly. For example, in St. Petersburg, connecting the Internet via a fiber optic cable with a speed of 45 to 200 Mbps will cost from 480 to 890 rubles per month.

In Orenburg, the cost of access to the Internet with a speed of 30 to 100 Mbps will be 450-600 rubles. Information about tariffs in other cities can be found on the official website of Rostelecom. The telephone line provides subscribers with only 8 Mbit/s connection.

Additional services from Rostelecom

For the convenience of subscribers, Rostelecom offers a number of additional services that are provided for a fee. By contacting the company, you can order a fixed IP option, an antivirus that protects your PC from, or night acceleration, thanks to which the Internet will work 2 times faster from midnight to 7 in the morning.

Rostelecom also provides services to protect children from unwanted information on the World Wide Web and offers the Mediabox program, which helps download videos and music.

How to connect home internet?

Regardless of the connection method, be it fiber optic or ADSL, to connect your home Internet, you must contact Rostelecom and leave a request indicating personal data, address and mobile phone number. The application can be written in one of the company's offices, sent online on the operator's website through the feedback form or by calling the phone number 8-800-100-08-00 .

After checking the technical capabilities of the cable system at a predetermined time, the company's specialists will come to your home with the necessary equipment, connect and configure the Internet. The procedure is accompanied by the drawing up of a contract for the use of services.

The document will indicate your tariff, unique identifier, personal account, as well. As a nice addition, Rostelecom provides a router that allows you to connect other computer devices via Wi-Fi. Its rent will cost only 1 ruble per month.

The comparison with an elephant is not accidental. As you know, the elephant is the largest animal, and Rostelecom is the largest operator in terms of the amount of services it provides. As soon as it became clear that the Internet was the future, this telephone company immediately joined the process and today is one of the leading providers. In this note, we will not discuss any specific method of Internet connection. And we will not figure out how to connect Rostelecom's Internet using specific equipment. And let's try to look at the issue more broadly and try to survey the entire map of possibilities.

Why Rostelecom and not some other provider? If you are a resident of the capital, then you have a huge choice of operators, including both well-known companies and smaller organizations serving literally several microdistricts. And now try to count the operators operating somewhere in the outback of Russia. It seems that the fingers of one hand are enough for this.

When connecting such "remote from civilization" subscribers, any small company will run into the problem of organizing a powerful infrastructure. Therefore, only large network technology providers, such as Rostelecom, can cope with this task. Before discussing how to connect Rostelecom, let's point out some of its other advantages:

  • More reliable communication quality.
  • Possibility of connection on a telephone line under the ADSL 2+ protocol. The subscriber is provided with special equipment for this.
  • Using properly configured proprietary hardware.
  • The ability to connect a Rostelecom set-top box to a TV and view interactive TV Rostelecom.
  • Simple organization of a WiFi network using a modem.
  • A whole range of more than convenient services.

Rostelecom guarantees

The high quality of the services provided are not empty promises. Let's see how the company's reputation is actually supported:

  • Reliability and speed of signal reception and transmission to the consumer is ensured by the use of high-performance fiber-optic communication lines, which allow using a single cable to bring three types of signals to the consumer at once: telephone, Internet packages, and television signal.
  • xDSL technology guarantees that telephone conversations will not affect the quality of parallel work on the computer. That is, you can communicate with your subscriber both online and by phone.
  • For those who do not need quick access to and who do not intend to transfer large amounts of data over the network, Rostelecom has retained the "grandfather" Dial-UP.

Thus, coverage of all categories of users and providing them with the most complete service is achieved. Internet connection from Rostelecom is a guarantee that you will always and everywhere stay online. To this it is worth adding that the user is not left alone with the instruction, with an abstract scheme of how to connect. Guarding his comfort is a technical support service, as well as a personal account, where you can get a lot of useful information and use services that operate on the principle of "one click".

The developer and owner of their own site (whether it be an individual user or an organization) can order a static IP address (or a whole pool of such addresses). Cloud service available.

Well, when you get tired of working, you can visit the entertainment portal zabava.ru - there is a lot of interesting things for the company's subscribers.

Information for practice

  • How to connect the Internet?
  • How to connect a Rostelecom set-top box?
  • How to connect interactive TV from this provider?

There are many questions and they are all waiting for answers.

Each specific service has its own nuances, and the general instruction for all services looks like this:

  • To begin with, we determine the type of equipment and service. To connect, you can use an ordinary telephone wire, an Ethernet cable, or a wireless modem. You need to decide on additional options, like television. If there are difficulties with the choice, it is better to consult with the company's employees. Some features may not be available at all in your area of residence.
  • Conclude an agreement with the company. This can be done either by visiting the company's office, or right at home by calling employees at home.
  • Inform the day and hour when you are ready to receive master-adjusters who are ready to install Rostelecom Internet on a computer. If you are connected, for example, to a telephone line and there is no need to lay a cable to you, then you can do the installation yourself, consulting by phone in difficult cases. Although it is usually easy to connect Rostelecom to yourself.
  • Finally, pay for the service.

Rostelecom offers its customers an Internet connection using a fiber optic cable, ADSL technology via a telephone line, and also offers Wi-Fi access points. The connection process itself is very simple, but we decided to write an article about it so that all possible questions disappear.

Basic ways to connect to the Internet

1) If you have the opportunity to visit the official website of the company, you can leave an application for an Internet connection there. First, check out the available rates in your area. To do this, go to link and check if your location is correct. Choose the rate that best suits your needs and budget.

Now find the "connection" button in the site menu and click on it.

Fill in the fields of contact details and your personal information and click on the "order" button. Pay attention to additional services and uncheck those items that you do not need.

2) If you are too lazy to fill in all these data, then you can only fill in the phone number and order a call back. The manager of the company will call you back and you will be able to verbally explain what you want to connect and at what time.

3) If on the way home from work you pass by the office of the company, then you can conclude a connection agreement there

The second and third methods imply that you have additional questions for a specialist and, using them, the manager will answer any questions about connecting the Internet. Regardless of the method of leaving the application, you will agree on a convenient time for you to carry out installation work. You can buy the equipment necessary for work on your own at any electronics store or order it from Rostelecom itself. In the first case, you will have to do all the settings yourself, and in the second case, the equipment will already be configured for you.

Residents of small settlements should pay attention to the fact that in order to connect to the Internet, you will need to connect to Rostelecom's home phone, since Internet access will be via a telephone line

How to connect home Wi-Fi? - This question is the most relevant today. That is, those who want to connect the Internet at home want to connect “Wi-Fi”. Users who are not familiar with the Internet confuse it with Wi-Fi technology.

ABOUT "WiFi" briefly and clearly.

Surely you have seen wired (cable) networks at work or in other places. "Wi-Fi" is a wireless network. That is, computers and electronic devices are connected to each other through a wireless network. This technology is called Wi-Fi.

Another example: all of you probably use the "Share it" program to transfer data (photos, videos, audio, programs, etc.) between your mobile phones. How is this data transmitted? Naturally, via Wi-Fi.

What is it needed for "WiFi" Houses?

If you connect wired internet to your home, then you will need to run cables for each of your computers and electronic devices. Imagine there are a lot of cables inside the house...

To get rid of these cables, you can use "Wi-Fi". That is, you can provide an Internet connection not through a cable, but through a wireless network.

If there is only one computer at home, and the Internet that you are going to connect is intended for this computer, then “Wi-Fi” is not necessary for you.

What you need to do to connect the Internet home using "WiFi»?

  1. Write an application for Internet connection;
  2. Purchase a "Wi-Fi" router (with ADSL input);
  • - Buy "Splitter" (if necessary);
  • - Purchase 2 telephone cables (if needed).

1. Write an application for Internet connection

You need to go to the offices of AGTS or "Turkmentelecom" and write an application for connecting the Internet to your home and make a payment (In offices, documents confirming your identity may be required).

*During the application, if the operator offers you to buy a modem or some other device, say what you have so that you do not buy the same thing twice.

In accordance with your statement, in a few days the masters of the above organizations will come to your home and connect you to the Internet. Be sure to warn the masters so that they install "Wi-Fi" Internet. As a result, they will set up your “Wi-Fi” router for you.

Another important thing- Internet speed. Choose the speed you need according to your budget. If the speed does not suit you, you can re-write an application to change the speed and tariff plan.

Tariff plans can be immediately found in the payment centers of AGTS or "Turkmentelecom", where you apply for connection or on their websites.

2. Purchase a "Wi-Fi" router (with ADSL input)

For Wi-Fi to work, you need to buy a router. The main function of the “Wi-Fi” router is to transfer a wired (cable) network to a wireless one and distribute it to users.

A "Wi-Fi" router can be purchased at computer stores. They differ from each other in properties such as the manufacturing company, popularity, impact on speed, coverage network, etc.

It is important to pay attention to the fact that the “Wi-Fi” router is with ADSL technology. This will help you avoid buying an extra device (During the application, if the operator offers you to buy a modem).

- Purchase "Splitter" (if needed)

Splitter "- translated from English as a "separator", on the one hand it has one input: a telephone cable is connected there, and on the other hand there are two outputs, from one output there is a cable to the phone, and from the other output there is a cable to "Wi-Fi » router. The main function of the "Splitter" is to split one cable into two, so that the home telephone line is not busy, and ensure the operation of both the "Wi-Fi" of the router and the home phone. "Splitter" is small and cheap, it can be purchased in computer and technology stores.

- Purchase 2 telephone cables (if needed)

For Splitter, purchase 2 telephone cables: one of which connects to your home phone, and the other to the Wi-Fi router.

home internet scheme

Ways to connect the Internet home:

  1. With the phone line that comes home: the phone line connects to "Wi-Fi" and it distributes the network to users. This type of Internet is also called ADSL.
  2. With an optical cable that comes home: The optical cable connects to "Wi-Fi" and it distributes the network to users. Naturally, this option is faster than the first one.

Good day.

In order to be able to organize a wireless Wi-Fi network at home and give Internet access to all mobile devices (laptops, tablets, phones, etc.) - you need a router (even many novice users are already aware of this). True, not everyone decides to independently connect it and configure it ...

In fact, this is within the power of the majority (I do not take into account exceptional cases when an Internet provider creates such "junk" with its own parameters for accessing the Internet ...). In this article I will try to answer all the most common questions that I heard (and hear) when connecting and configuring a Wi-Fi router. So let's get started...

1) Which router do I need, how to choose it?

Perhaps this is the first question that users who want to organize a wireless Wi-Fi network at home ask themselves. I would start this question with a simple and important point: what services does your Internet provider provide (IP telephony or Internet TV), what Internet speed do you expect (5-10-50 Mbps?), and how protocol you are connected to the Internet (for example, now popular: PPTP, PPPoE, L2PT).

Those. the functions of the router will begin to be drawn by themselves ... In general, this topic is quite extensive, therefore, I recommend that you read one of my articles:

search and selection of a router for home -

2) How to connect the router to the computer?

As a rule, in the configuration directly to the router itself, there is a power supply and a network cable for connecting to a PC (see Fig. 1).

By the way, please note that on the back of the router there are several sockets for connecting a network cable: one WAN port and 4 LAN ( The number of ports depends on the router model. In the most common home routers, the configuration is as in fig. 2).

Rice. 2. Typical view of the router from the back (TP Link).

The Internet cable from the provider (which was most likely connected to the PC's network card earlier) must be connected to the blue port of the router (WAN).

With the cable that comes with the router, you need to connect the computer's network card (where the provider's Internet cable was previously connected) to one of the LAN ports of the router (see Fig. 2 - yellow ports). By the way, in this way you can connect several more computers.

At the big moment! If you do not have a computer, then you can connect the LAN port of the router with a laptop (netbook) with a network cable. The fact is that the initial configuration of the router is better (and in some cases, otherwise impossible) to carry out via a wired connection. After specifying all the basic parameters (set up a wireless Wi-Fi connection), then the network cable can be disconnected from the laptop, and then work via Wi-Fi.

As a rule, there are no issues with connecting cables and power supplies. We will assume that your device is connected, and the LEDs on it started blinking :).

3) How to enter the router settings?

This is probably the key question of the article. In most cases, this is done quite simply, but sometimes ... Consider the whole process in order.

By default, each router model has its own address for entering the settings (as well as a username and password). In most cases it is the same: http://192.168.1.1/ however, there are exceptions. Here are some models:

  • Asus - http://192.168.1.1 (Login: admin, Password: admin (or empty field));
  • ZyXEL Keenetic - http://192.168.1.1 (Login: admin, Password: 1234);
  • D-LINK - http://192.168.0.1 (Login: admin, Password: admin);
  • TRENDnet - http://192.168.10.1 (Login: admin, Password: admin).

At the big moment! It is impossible to say with 100% accuracy what address, password and login your device will have (even despite the brands I mentioned above). But in the documentation for your router, this information is necessarily indicated (most likely, on the first or last page of the user manual).

Rice. 3. Entering a login and password to access the router settings.

For those who failed to enter the router settings, there is a good article with the reasons analyzed (why this could happen). I recommend using the tips, link to the article below.

How to access 192.168.1.1? Why does not enter, the main reasons -

How to enter the settings of the Wi-Fi router (step by step) -

4) How to set up an Internet connection in a Wi-Fi router

Before describing these or those settings, a small footnote should be made here:

  1. First - even routers from the same model range can be with different firmware (different versions). The settings menu depends on the firmware, i.e. what you will see when you go to the settings address (192.168.1.1). The language of the settings also depends on the firmware. In my example below, I will show the settings of a popular router model - TP-Link TL-WR740N (the settings are in English, but it’s not so difficult to understand them. Of course, it’s even easier to set up in Russian).
  2. The router settings will depend on the organization of the network at your Internet provider. To configure the router, you need connection information (login, password, IP addresses, connection type, etc.), usually everything you need is contained in an Internet connection agreement.
  3. For the above reasons - it is impossible to give universal instructions that are suitable for all occasions ...

Different Internet providers have a different type of connection, for example, Megaline, ID-Net, TTK, MTS, etc. use a PPPoE connection (I would call it the most popular). In addition, it provides higher speed.

When connecting PPPoE to access the Internet, you need to know the password and login. Sometimes (like MTS, for example) PPPoE + Static Local is used: Internet access will be provided, after entering the password and login for access, the local network is configured separately - you will need: IP address, mask, gateway.

Necessary settings (for example, PPPoE, see Fig. 4):

  1. You need to open the "Network / WAN" section;
  2. WAN Connection Type - specify the type of connection, in this case PPPoE;
  3. PPPoE Connection: Username - specify the login for accessing the Internet (specified in your agreement with the Internet provider);
  4. PPPoE Connection: Password - password (similarly);
  5. Secondary Connection - here we either do not specify anything (Disabled), or, for example, as in MTS - we specify Static IP (depending on the organization of your network). Usually, this setting item affects access to the local network of your Internet provider. If you do not need it, you can not really worry;
  6. Connect on Demand - establish an Internet connection as needed, for example, if the user accesses the Internet browser and requests a page on the Internet. By the way, please note that there is a column below Max idle Time - this is the time after which the router (if it is idle) will disconnect from the Internet.
  7. Connect Automatically - connect to the Internet automatically. In my opinion, the optimal parameter, it should be chosen ...
  8. Connect Manually - connect to the Internet manually (uncomfortable...). Although for some users, for example, if there is limited traffic, it is quite possible that this type will be the most optimal, allowing them to control the traffic limit and not go into the red.

Rice. 4. Setting up a PPPoE connection (MTS, TTK, etc.)

You should also pay attention to the Advanced tab (advanced) - you can set DNS in it (they are sometimes necessary).

Rice. 5. Advanced tab in TP Link router

Another important point - many ISPs bind your network card MAC address and do not allow you to access the Internet if the MAC address has changed ( approx. each network card has its own unique MAC address).

Modern routers can easily emulate the desired MAC address. To do this, open the tab Network/MAC Clone and press the button Clone MAC Address.

Alternatively, you can tell your new MAC address to your ISP and they will unblock it.

Note. The MAC address is something like this line: 94-0C-6D-4B-99-2F (see Fig. 6).

Rice. 6. MAC address

Incidentally, for example, in Billine» type of connection is not PPPoE, A L2TP. The setup itself is performed in a similar way, but with some reservations:

  1. Wan Connection Type - select L2TP connection type;
  2. Username, Password - enter the data provided by your Internet provider;
  3. Server IP-address - tp.internet.beeline.ru;
  4. save the settings (the router should reboot).

Rice. 7. Setting up L2TP for Billine…

Note. Actually, after the entered settings and restarting the router (if you did everything correctly and entered exactly the data that you need), you should have the Internet in your laptop (computer) that you connected via a network cable! If this is the case, the only thing left is to set up a wireless Wi-Fi network. In the next step, we will do this ...

5) How to set up a wireless Wi-Fi network in a router

Setting up a wireless Wi-Fi network, in most cases, comes down to specifying the network name and password to access it. As an example, I will show the same router (although I will take the Russian firmware to show both the Russian and English versions).

First you need to open the section Wireless (wireless network), see fig. 8. Next, set the following settings:

  1. Network name - the name that you will see when searching for and connecting to a Wi-Fi network (specify any);
  2. Region - you can specify "Russia". By the way, in many routers there is not even such a parameter;
  3. Channel Width, Channel- you can leave Auto and do not change anything;
  4. Save your settings.

Rice. 8. Setting up a Wi-Fi wireless network in the TP Link router.

Next, you need to open the tab " Wireless Security". Many people underestimate this point, but if you do not protect the network with a password, then all your neighbors will be able to use it, thereby lowering your network speed.

  • Version: you can not change and leave automatic;
  • Encryption: same, automatic;
  • The PSK password is the password to access your Wi-Fi network. I recommend that you specify something that is difficult to pick up with the usual enumeration, or by guessing by chance (no 12345678!).

Rice. 9. Encryption type setting (security).

After saving the settings and rebooting the router, your wireless Wi-Fi network should start working. Now you can set up a connection on a laptop, phone, and other devices.

6) How to connect a laptop to a wireless Wi-Fi network

As a rule, if the router is correctly configured, there should be no problems with setting up and accessing the network in Windows. And such a connection is made in a couple of minutes, no more ...

First, click on the Wi-Fi icon in the tray next to the clock. In the window with the list of found Wi-Fi networks, select your own and enter the password to connect (see Fig. 10).

Rice. 10. Selecting a Wi-Fi network for connecting a laptop.

If the network password is entered correctly, the laptop will establish a connection and you can start using the Internet. Actually, this completes the setup. For those who did not succeed, below are a few links to typical problems.

The laptop does not connect to Wi-Fi (does not find wireless networks, no connections available) -

Wi-Fi problems in Windows 10: network without internet access -

Nowadays, wireless technologies allow you to create a whole home network, which will include all mobile devices and computers equipped with Wi-Fi adapters. Everyone potentially has such opportunities, but not everyone knows how to connect Wi-Fi at home.

What you need to organize a home network

In this article, I will tell you what you need to connect Wi-Fi at home.

First, you will need a wireless router or access point. Secondly, in order to connect a computer to the router, a Wi-Fi adapter must be installed on the second one. It is worth noting that every modern laptop, netbook, smartphone and tablet is equipped with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth wireless modules, so there should be no problems with creating a home network from this side.

Today, absolutely everyone can buy a wireless router, since their cost is within the power of any budget. However, if you do not want to spend money on a router, you can create a distribution on a computer or even on a smartphone; if you create an access point on a smartphone, then you can only access the mobile Internet, and then if it is connected and configured on the distributing device.

Here I will describe how to act if you decide and purchase a router.

How to organize a local wireless network

Consider how to set up a local network through a Wi-Fi router, using the D-Link Dir-300 router as an example. If you have a different model, then do not be upset. They are all set up the same way. The difference between the routers is only in the design of the interface and the names of some sections. Otherwise, the essence of the work remains the same for everyone.

So, turn on your router and wait for it to boot up. After that, you can connect to it via Wi-Fi or via the cable that came with the device. Next, open your favorite browser and enter the IP address of the router in the address bar. It is indicated on the factory sticker, which is pasted on the device itself (just carefully inspect it from all sides). On the same sticker you will find information about the login and password to enter the options menu.

If the sticker is missing or erased, then you can find out all the necessary data in the instructions. If none of the options suits you, then after connecting to the router, launch the command line and write the following command in it: ipconfig and press "Enter". It remains only to find the line "Main Gateway" - this will be the address of your router. As a rule, the following IP address is used on T-Link and D-Link: 192.168.0.1. Sometimes there are routers with the following address: 192.168.1.1.

So, we prescribe the IP address already known to us in the browser and press "Enter". Now the system asks for a password and login to enter the options menu. By default, in the vast majority of cases, the following data is used: login - admin, password - admin.

Everything, now you are in the router settings menu. As mentioned above, to create a local network, you do not need to configure anything in particular. You can simply enter the name of the network, and also secure it by coming up with a complex password. To do this, go to the "Wi-Fi" section.

In the main settings, you can enter the name of the router. To do this, find the line "SSID" (or username) and enter in it any network name you like.

A little lower you will see the line "PSK Encryption Key". This is the password to connect to the network. You can enter here absolutely any password of your choice. The main thing is not to forget it later, because without this key you will not be able to connect to Wi-Fi.

Of course, there are still a lot of settings, but, as a rule, no one uses them, since for the network to work normally, it is enough to specify a name and set a password. Now you know how to install Wi-Fi at home yourself.

But, if you have cable internet, you can connect it to a router. This will allow you to distribute the Internet via Wi-Fi. Of course, this connection also requires a separate setup.

WAN setup in the router

WAN is a global area network. Simply put, this is the internet. If an Internet cable from the provider is laid in the apartment (house), then you can connect it to the WAN port of the router (RJ-45 interface). Of course, you will also need to enter certain settings in the router itself. To do this, go to the "Network" section in the router settings. Next, go to the "WAN" subdirectory.

Click the "Add" button below. In the line "Connection Type" you need to specify the type of connection that your provider provides. There are three options to choose from:

  1. PPPoE is a connection to the Internet using a unique login and password that the provider issues when connected.
  2. Static IP - in this case, you will have to manually enter the network settings. That is, the provider gives you certain network settings that you must enter when setting up the connection. This data is usually specified in the contract concluded with the provider. But you can call the customer support service and ask the operator for all the necessary data.
  3. Dynamic IP - This option sets the network parameters automatically. It works only if the provider provides such services and supports the technology of connecting clients by MAC address. That is, instead of a login and password, a unique number is used - the MAC address of your network card (or router).

As a rule, in the vast majority of cases, the first option is used - PPPoE connection using the client's login and password. Therefore, in the "Connection Type" line, set the value to "PPPoE".

Additional settings will open below. We are interested in the PPP section. It only needs to fill in three lines:

  • "Username" - here you need to specify the login that the provider assigned to you.
  • "Password" - enter the password assigned to you by the provider.
  • "Password Confirmation" - here you need to enter the password again.

If you are provided with an IPTV service, and you will watch TV on a computer or on a TV with a Wi-Fi adapter, then check the box "IGMP". After that, click "Apply" and reboot the router.

This completes the router setup. All devices connected to it will have access to the global web. In this case, they will all be in the same homegroup. Thanks to this, you can transfer information between devices in a group, transfer files, and so on. To do this, you just need to set up sharing and open access to the necessary resources.

Here, now you know how to conduct Wi-Fi in an apartment. However, there are other options.

For example, if you have a laptop, then you can distribute Wi-Fi from it. Moreover, if you know how to connect a laptop to wi-fi, your virtual network will have Internet access. The easiest way to organize the distribution of Wi-Fi on a laptop is to use the Virtual Router Plus program.

The program is free and extremely easy to use. I think you will understand its settings. You can learn more about how to distribute Wi-Fi from a laptop from this article.

You can also distribute mobile Internet via Wi-Fi from a smartphone. To do this, you just need to connect to a 2G or 3G network on your phone and activate the "Mobile hotspot" function in the Wi-Fi settings. You can find out more about this.
