So, almost any employee (with the appropriate education) can fill out the journal and be responsible for fire safety in the organization.   • Manufacturing date. This information is necessary for the timely replacement of content.
  • The type and brand of the product being described.

One line should reveal the essence of carrying out one technological service. It may also contain information about recharging fire extinguishers. But for this, it is better to have a special document for testing and recharging fire extinguishers, and put only links from it in the logbook (in the "Elimination of deficiencies" column).

How many fire extinguishers do you need

When initially equipping fire extinguishing equipment, the manager must take into account the standards that were developed specifically to reduce the fire hazard in a particular organization. It is necessary to take into account the level of danger in a particular situation. Premises (everything except commercial buildings) are divided into levels: A, B, C, D and D. E - the lowest fire hazard. A - respectively, the highest.

The level of fire hazard depends on:

  • The materials from which the structure was erected (as well as insulated, etc.)
  • Building plans, floors.
  • The presence or absence of explosive substances (even temporary).

The calculation of the number of fire extinguishers must be made based on the area of ​​​​the room or rooms that are used by the organization. In most cases, offices for no more than a dozen people need one standard model fire extinguisher. In this case, the fire extinguisher register will consist only of a cover and one passport of fire fighting equipment.

Types of fire extinguishers

The design of the fire extinguisher is also of paramount importance. Distinguish:

  • Air-foam devices. They are filled with foam.

  • Gas fire extinguishers. They are filled with refrigerant at the factory.
  • Powder.
  • Mixed type.

Requirements

The one who fills out the fire extinguisher register, in without fail must pass a fire drill. This can be done in a specialized institution or in the organization itself, if there is a fire safety instructor. This is called fire-technical minimum courses.

Before commissioning, all fire extinguishers must be tested in accordance with clause 4.3.5 of SP 9.13130.2009.

Primary fire extinguishing equipment must always have its own passport. From the latter, it is better to take information about the brand, type of fire extinguisher and its other technical characteristics and transfer it to the fire extinguisher register.

Is it necessary to have such a form?

The register of fire extinguishers, in accordance with existing legislation (specifically, paragraph 478 of the Fire Regulations, adopted by Government Decree No. 390 of April 25, 2012), can be drawn up in a free (arbitrary) form. However, the laws clearly spell out the requirements that it must comply with. Thus, despite the fact that the given form is not unified, its use will be optimal in any of the organizations, since it contains and spells out all the fundamental important points, which are paid attention to by inspections from regulatory organizations during inspections.

Fire extinguisher installation algorithm

After the responsible manager acquires a primary fire extinguishing agent in the form of a fire extinguisher, he must conduct its initial inspection, describe it in the fire extinguisher register, and then install it.

The initial inspection includes:

  • Removal of pressure gauge readings (if any).
  • External inspection for damage, chips and other defects.
  • Assessment of the condition of the outer coating of the cylinder.
  • Control over the legibility of the text in the instructions attached to the equipment.
  • Close visual inspection nozzle, nuts and other elements for damage.
  • Tracking the mass of the balloon filler (if possible).
  • Inspection of the integrity of the seal, the presence of a factory stamp on the product.

It is important to keep in mind that the purchased equipment for extinguishing fires must correspond to the area of ​​​​the premises of the enterprise, their specific work, volumes.

Periodicity

During its lifetime, each fire extinguisher must first undergo an inspection for commissioning, then three types of checks are waiting for it:

  • Full. Usually they are held at the initiative of the head, by a separate order.
  • Planned annual. External inspection, inspection of hikes, check for possible leakage, remove products with a low pressure in cylinders or with a fifth service life. Sometimes, if necessary, selective opening of powder products (at least 3% of the total) is carried out for the condition of the filters, the composition of the OTV (dispersion, the presence of lumps and the ability to destroy them, moisture content, flowability). If the requirements regarding these parameters are not met, then the entire batch of fire extinguishers of this period is changed throughout the enterprise.
  • Scheduled quarterly. They are relevant only for large manufacturing enterprises or organizations whose premises have a fire hazard class A or B. Nothing serious here: visual inspection, inspection of the installation site.

Important point! The date of the last check is noted not only in the log, but also on the fire extinguisher itself.

To do this, tags are attached to them. If the equipment is carbon dioxide or powder, then, in addition to this information, the mass of the charge and the cylinder must be on the tag. Each equipment must be accompanied by an instruction manual. She will tell you which of the fire extinguishers needs to be checked. For example, the service life of OPAN-50M brand fire extinguishers is 10 years. But this does not mean that they do not need to be checked every year.

Recharge

In order for the internal contents of the equipment to always be in order and the correct information always appeared in the fire extinguisher register, fire extinguishers must be periodically recharged. It even starts separate document- a log of tests and reloading fire extinguishers.

The duration of this recharge will depend on the type of substance filling the device. For water fire extinguishers, the recharge rate is once a year, as for foam ones. Even if water with specialized additives is used, this rule always applies.

Recharging firefighting equipment every year is quite a hassle. If the manager (or responsible for fire safety) is not satisfied with this situation, then it is necessary to purchase carbon dioxide, powder fire extinguishers or equipment with freon for the safety of their premises.

In these three cases, fire extinguishers will have to be recharged no more than once every 5 years. However, it is necessary to monitor their condition and make notes about checks in the register of fire extinguishers with the same frequency - once a year.

Obviously, putting out the fire is the job of specialists: the fire service, which comes on call. But there is always a chance to localize the fire at the very beginning - for this, primary fire extinguishing agents are used. In addition to the obvious - a fire extinguisher - these include fire shields equipped with:

  • crowbar;
  • gaff;
  • bucket;
  • a set for cutting electrical wires;
  • shovels (bayonet and shovel);
  • water storage tanks;
  • other items that allow you to localize the fire immediately after ignition.

According to the already mentioned Rules, the manager is responsible for everything related to the availability and serviceability of fire extinguishers, including the establishment of a fire regime in general. The filling form is not all that is needed for successful management. The journal itself must be executed in compliance with certain rules. In particular, the magazine is stitched and certified with the seals of the enterprise before use. Therefore, it must be entered in the register of primary accounting documents of the company. Accounting starts from the first sheet fire safety. You can calculate the number of graphs yourself. Below is a sample entry:

  • log entry number: 1;
  • device name: fire extinguisher;
  • name specified in the operational sheet, type: OP-3;
  • scope: extinguishing the fire of solid, liquid, gaseous substances cash desk A, B, C or B, C, depending on the powder;
  • production number: 5444655;
  • release date: 10/27/2018;
  • recharge date: 02/16/2019;
  • date of future inspection: 02/16/2020;
  • certification by a designated employee.

Of course, you can assign additional columns if required. If there is no information for a particular item, then simply put a dash.

Fire Extinguisher Check Before Logging

Be sure to follow additional security measures before logging. This is a visual inspection and comparison of technical characteristics. Look at:

  • integrity;
  • serviceability of components;
  • the quality of the varnish applied to the device;
  • the correctness of the instructions;
  • compliance with technical specifications.

The completeness of the mass is checked (for those operating from compressed gas - pressure), the quality of sealing. The color of the seal does not matter.

Logging is a must. In large enterprises where more than 3 fire extinguishers are installed, it is possible to keep several magazines at the same time.
