How long the package is processed in the sorting center. Left sorting center

Parcel, letter or shipment left the sorting center - what does this mean and how long to expect to receive? How do MSCs operate and how is mail delivered?

I want to receive any parcel as soon as possible. And if the parcel is valuable, then the delay in delivery naturally causes excitement. And if everything is more or less clear with transportation, then sorting in the forwarding centers raises questions for everyone.

What does it mean?

The status when tracking the parcel "Left the sorting center" means that the box was scanned by the operator (or automatically) and placed on the trolley (box, basket, conveyor). In the near future, the mail container should be loaded onto a truck and taken to the station, airport or post office, if it is near the ASC.

Automated sorting shops were built in Russia to speed up the processing of deliveries. They played their role - before everything was distributed manually, workers had to write data into a log for a long time, so the parcels went for several months, and in the 90s, it happened for half a year. Today, part of the work is automated, computers, scanners and even robots have appeared, so the time has been reduced, although by modern standards they continue to be large.

How much to wait?

However, in practice this may be true only if the departure is between major cities. For example, Rostov-on-Don, Ufa, Yekaterinburg and other cities when departing for Moscow are usually served very quickly, their sorting centers are equipped with conveyors, electronic barcode scanners and automatic sorters. Millions of correspondence and letters fly through these systems with little or no human intervention.

But in small towns and regional centers, sorting can still be done manually, so after the status "left the sorting center" appears, it may take several weeks before receipt. Again, the Russian Post has failures and delays in sending, it is no coincidence that there are so many jokes on the Internet regarding this structure.

In addition, the notification that your parcel has left the sorting center means only the passage of the final registrar. But in reality, parcels and bundles of letters can wait for several days to be loaded on board the aircraft at the gates of this same MSC, for example, if there is bad weather, or there is a flight delay. Approximately the same can be said about railway mail.

Russia is a large country, there can be a lot of delay factors, and besides, people in the departments don’t really want to try for their penny salaries. And it's hard to blame them.

When to go to the post office if you received the status Left the sorting center? Wait until the next status “Arrived at the place of delivery” appears - this means that the package is already in place. But even here, in practice, delays are possible, for example, the correspondence that has arrived is piled up in a warehouse, and they will be issued only after internal sorting, the speed of which depends directly on the quickness of the aunts working in the department. So only a notification received or a call from the post office can guarantee the receipt of the parcel.

In order not to be mistaken in the estimated delivery time of the parcel, you should know what this or that status means. On this page, we will consider in detail all possible statuses so that you do not experience difficulties in determining the location of the package.

Postal statuses when tracking shipments from abroad

Reception.

This status implies that the sender has completed all required forms, including Form CN22 or CN23 ( customs declaration), and the parcel is accepted by the postal employee or courier service. Simultaneously with the receipt of the shipment, an identification number is assigned, according to which tracking takes place in the future.

Arrival at MMPO.

MMPO is a place of international mail exchange. On this stage the package is going through customs control and registration. After that, the service employees prepare a grouped international shipment.

Export.

One of the longest periods in the delivery of postal items. This is due to the fact that it is unprofitable to send a partially loaded aircraft, so you have to wait until a sufficient number of parcels are sent to one country.

In addition, in order to optimize logistics processes, shipments can be delivered in transit through other countries, and this also delays the delivery time.

It is impossible to name the exact duration of the parcel's stay in export. But on average, it ranges from two weeks to one and a half months. Moreover, on the eve of the holidays, this period may further increase. But if more than two months have passed since the receipt of the "Export" status, and there are no changes, you should contact postal service, performing the delivery, with a statement on the search for the shipment.

Import.

This status is assigned to a shipment in the Russian AOPP (Aviation Mail Transportation Department), where it enters from the aircraft. Here, according to the service regulations, parcels are weighed, the integrity of the package is checked, a barcode is scanned to find out the place of departure, the flight number is fixed, and it is determined to which MMPO the parcel should be sent. The duration of an international shipment in AOPP depends on the degree of workload of the branch and its employees, but on average it is 1-2 days.

handed over to customs.

After sorting, the parcels are sent for customs inspection, where they pass through an X-ray scanner. In the event that employees customs service there are suspicions of illegal transportation of prohibited substances or items, the shipment is opened and examined in the presence of an inspector and a responsible operator. After that (if the fact of transportation of prohibited goods was not confirmed), the parcel is packed again, an inspection report is attached and sent along the route.

Delayed by customs.

This status is optional. It is assigned to a shipment only in cases where customs officers detect a weight exceeding the allowable norm, a value of more than 1,000 euros, and other violations. In this case, the recipient will have to pay additional fees. If there are no violations of customs legislation, the parcel bypasses this status.

Customs clearance completed.

After receiving this status, the parcel is again transferred to the place of international postal exchange, where it is processed by the branch staff. In some cases, this status may be replaced by “left MMPO”.

Arrived at the sorting center.

From MMPO, the shipment arrives for sorting. There are postal sorting centers in all major cities. As a rule, the parcel is sent to the center closest to MMPO, where logistics service employees develop optimal route delivery to the point of issue.

Left the sorting center.

This status means that the parcel went along the delivery route. The time it takes for it to arrive at the recipient depends on several factors, including traffic congestion, remoteness of the region, etc.

There are sorting centers of the Russian Post in all major cities.

Arrived at Sort Facility N.

Upon arrival in the recipient's city, the parcel is delivered to the local sorting center. From here, the goods are distributed to post offices or other points for issuing orders. Delivery speed is affected by: traffic congestion, weather conditions, distance. For example, delivery in the city takes no more than 1-2 days, and in the region, the shipment can be delivered in about a week.

Came to the place of delivery.

After the shipment arrives at the nearest post office, it is assigned this status. Further, postal employees are required to issue a notice and deliver it to the addressee within 1-2 days. In fact, this period may be slightly delayed, so it is better to use the My Parcel tracking service. As soon as you see the status "arrived at the place of delivery", you can go to the post office. It is not necessary to wait for a notification, since postal employees are required to issue a shipment using an identification code (tracking number). Upon receipt, you must have a passport with you.

Delivery to the addressee.

This status is assigned to the parcel after it is received by the addressee and means the end of the journey.

Domestic Russian shipments are assigned the same statuses, with the exception of those related to the customs stage and MMPO. Therefore, the information will also be useful for those who make purchases in Russian online stores or expect a package from loved ones living in another city or region.

Now you know the interpretation of each status and you can not only determine the actual location of the parcel, but also roughly calculate the delivery time.

With a group of bloggers, they were invited to the first Automated Sorting Center (ASC) of the Russian Post in Russia. It is located in the village of Lvovsky, Podolsky district, Moscow region. The Moscow ASC is the largest in Eastern Europe. Its area is 29 thousand square meters. m., capacity - more than 3 million postal items per day. Serves most of the Central region of Russia - Moscow, Moscow, Tver, Ryazan, Tula, Vladimir and Kaluga regions - with a total population of more than 25 million people. Work on the creation of the center was carried out from 2005 to 2009. Sorting equipment - Italian production.

Under the cut - a lot of photos and a story about the tour

The commissioning of the Moscow ASC makes it possible to ensure the transition to the zonal-nodal principle of mail transportation, which creates conditions for accelerating the passage of mail in the service area of the center up to 2-3 days due to automation and elimination of intermediate stages of correspondence processing. So, if earlier the items in the Central Federal District were subjected to manual sorting, first in the regional postal nodes, then in the regional ones and, finally, in the sorting center in Moscow, now in the regional and regional nodes the mail is only grouped into containers, after which sent to the Moscow ASC for sorting. As a result of combining mail flows in directions, optimal loading of containers and vehicles transporting them, reduction of exchange time and labor costs, reduction in the need for vehicles and optimization of routes were ensured.

Before visiting the ASC, a conference was held for bloggers, where many issues related to the work of mail were discussed. Since these issues were discussed in more detail at a meeting with representatives of the Russian Post at the International Postal Exchange, I will talk about this in more detail in the 2nd part of the report.

After the conference, we were taken to the workshops of the ASC, where mail is sorted. There are 3 main sorting shops in the ASC:

1 shop - sorting regular mail 2 shop - sorting non-standard mail (large-format letters, postal items weighing up to 2.5 kg and less than 2.5 cm thick) 3 shop - sorting parcels and parcels

Pre-incoming mail is divided into shops. Parcels go separately to the 3rd shop. And to separate ordinary and large-format letters, a face-stamping machine is used. With the help of mechanical analyzing devices, it separates standard (in size) letters and postcards from non-standard ones. It is also intended for automatic selection of letters in one position (facing) and applying a calendar stamp and wavy lines to the letter to cancel the stamp (stamping). On this equipment, letters are prepared for processing on an automatic letter sorting machine.

1 workshop (sorting regular mail)

Letters in this workshop are processed using a letter coding and sorting machine. This machine is designed to sort standard simple letters size 220x110 mm and 114x162mm. At the beginning of processing, coding machines convert the numeric and/or alphabetic address into a code that is printed on the letter.

If the machine cannot recognize the index or address written on the letter, the information is sent to the video coding section, where the written is already recognized by the operators (more on this later).

The encoded postal address information is then scanned using an optical character reader. After that, the letters are automatically separated into address boxes located at the other end of the machine.

Operators then take out bundles of split mail, put them in plastic containers and transport them to final stages sorting process (the stage of preparing postal documents and sending them to destinations)

2 shop (sorting non-standard mail)

Letters in this workshop are processed on 2 machines for coding and sorting large-format and registered letters. This equipment sorts items weighing up to 2.5 kg and not more than 25 mm thick. Before being processed on the equipment, postal items go through the faceting stage (selection of letters by addresses and stamps in one position), which is performed manually. At the start of the sorting process for large format letters, coding machines convert the numeric and/or alphabetic address into a code, on the basis of which the letters are automatically separated into address boxes located at the other end of the machine. Each such cell refers either to a region, or to a city, or to a post office. If the index and address are not recognized by the machine, the information is sent for video encoding. Next, the operators take out the boxes with the sorted mail and transport them to the final stages of the sorting process (the stage of preparing postal documents and sending them to destinations).

In the case of registered letters, already when such a letter is received at the post office, it is assigned a barcode, by which the client can track the status of his registered letter on the Russian Post website. sorting machine registered letters, reads only this barcode. After reading, it accesses the database and already determines the address by the barcode, regardless of what is written on a registered letter.

Workplace of the shop manager:

3 shop (sorting of parcels and parcels)

Sorting of postal items in this workshop begins with their coding, weighing and subsequent delivery to workstations, where parcels and parcels are oriented. Loading operators stack parcels and parcels on a distribution conveyor.

From all conveyors, the parcel enters the main sorting conveyor, on which there is a scanner that reads the barcode from the parcel.

When the parcel approaches its sorting cell, the carriage is triggered and the parcel enters the tray according to the sorting program specified.

Unloading operators remove postal items (packages and parcels) from the trays and place them on roller containers located near the trays. Then the filled containers are transported to the final stages of the sorting process (the stage of preparing postal documents and sending them to destinations).

The sorting system is able to automatically recognize large parcels (whose dimensions exceed 600 mm x 300 mm x 300 mm) in order to ship them to additional trays.

A question was asked about what to do if some particularly fragile items are being sent that require careful handling. In this case, you need to pay an additional 30% at the post office, then a special sticker will be pasted on the parcel and the post office is responsible for the safety of fragile items. Such parcels are processed separately from the rest.

Video coding section

It happens that clients incorrectly or violating the standard indicate the index or address. Or the index and address do not match. Then the system cannot recognize what is written on the letter. In such cases, the information from the letter is sent to the operators to the video encoding section.

Letters are loaded on the sorting machine, after which the scanner reads the picture, the optical recognition system assigns the sorting cell code to the letter - which cell the letter should fall into. For video encoding, images of mail items are received, which for some reason could not be processed by the optical recognition system. The sorting machine processes 11 letters per second. On video coding, operators must enter the index within a second, the address from 4.5 to 8 seconds, so that no delays are created. If the operator does not fit within 10 seconds, during which the code must be assigned to the letter, this letter is sent offline - offline mode. Such letters are formed in a queue, in the future they are run again. Also, the video encoding operator can send the letter for manual sorting. This happens if the sender specified insufficient address data (for example, the district is not specified) or the address data does not match the address database.

So to everyone reading this report: correctly indicate the address and especially the postal code (see photo), appreciate the work of people.
