Introduction

How much time did you spend in the office this week? And how much time was spent trudging with a dull look to work and tiredly wandering home after labor day? Is the office chair in front of the monitor really where you always wanted to be? What did you aspire to and dream of at a tender age? Since childhood, we have been instilled with common truths that you can’t even catch a fish from a pond without difficulty, but history inexorably proves the opposite. Perhaps, in the past, hard work was the only way to survive, but in today's changing world, there are a lot of ways to be happy, not worry, beat the buckets professionally and get good fees for it. Down with the slave psychology of the herd! This book is about how not to work, get rich and be a successful person.

Laziness is the engine of progress

And work is generally unhealthy!

“We must live,” we are told, “in fasting and labor!”
“As you live, so you will resurrect!”
I am inseparable with a friend and a cup of wine,
To wake up like this at a terrible judgment.

Omar Khayyam, poet, philosopher and staunch hedonist

Work spoils people's mood and character. Nobody really wants to work. Work is generally best avoided.

Bret Easton Ellis, modern American writer

Lying on the couch, eating fatty and swearing is USEFUL!

Science Fact #1

Working unhealthy is now a scientifically proven fact. Scientists from the University of Cifornia studied the lifestyle of 30 married couples. It turned out that the highest levels of cortisol - the stress hormone - in the blood are those who often stay late at the office and take work home.

Although nutritionists claim that eating fatty foods is dangerous to health, in fact, as far back as 10 years ago, it was found that fatty foods help prevent cancer. This research is still ongoing, and perhaps by eating a burger now, you will protect yourself from many misfortunes in the future.

Science Fact #2

Too often brushing dust off grandmother figurines and too zealously beating carpets can lead to dangerous consequences. The same study showed that those who clean their homes too often and too zealously provoke the development of asthma in themselves and their loved ones.

It is also dangerous to take a shower twice a day. The fact is that our protective film is washed off the skin, immunity weakens, and a person begins to get sick more often.

Psychologists from Germany have proved that one of the most effective means to combat stress - the use of profanity. Doctors recommend periodically giving vent to accumulated emotions and, finally, expressing everything that hurts you, without being embarrassed in expressions.

What the experts say

Specialists of the Kyoto School of Public Health have come to the conclusion that work is harmful not only for the physical, but also for the psychological health of a person. Experts Takahashi Amagasa and Takeo Nakayama warn that sooner or later, work inevitably leads to overwork, and overwork leads to depression.

In order to earn depression, you need to work more than 4 days a week. If you also stay late at work, the risk of depression increases as much as 15 times!

Nothing pisses me off so much anymore when I see people sitting and doing nothing when I do something.

I handle my work very carefully. In fact, some work has been lying with me for years, and I have not even laid a finger on it. And I'm proud of my work; now and then I shift it from place to place and wipe the dust off it. There is no person whose work would be better preserved than mine.

I cannot sit idly by and watch someone toil in the sweat of their brow. I immediately have a need to get up and start administering, and I walk around with my hands in my pockets and manage. I am active by nature.

Jerome K. Jerome, "Three Men in a Boat, Not Counting the Dog"

We were all told in childhood: if you are lazy, you will not achieve anything in life. However, history offers us many examples proving that this is not so! Such outstanding personalities as Newton, Archimedes and Picasso were considered lazy, but they still achieved success and, being lazy, felt great.

Sir Winston Churchill was last at school in most subjects and did not even go to university. He categorically did not recognize any sports, he could drink a whole bottle of cognac a day, and his only active action at home was rocking on a rocking chair. He was too lazy even to reach for the ashtray, and by the end of the day he was covered with the ashes of his cigars, resembling an extinct volcano in his appearance. Nevertheless, he became an outstanding politician and left his mark on history.

Isaac Newton studied at school no worse than anyone. There was another student in his class whose performance was even more deplorable. The name of the lazy Isaac has remained for centuries thanks to his only successful strategy - he simply sat under a tree, was lazy and waited until an apple fell on his head.

This book is a continuation of the book The Higher Taste of Life. The exit from the material game, which told about the archaeological wars waged on our planet in order to hide the traces of the existence of ancient highly developed civilizations, in order to hide the history of the human race - in order to manipulate people. Who exactly does this will be discussed in the third book.

Famous lazy people and procrastinators of all time

The famous artist, in order to force himself to work at least a little, locked himself in the apartment and did not go out. But the temptation to visit his favorite cafe or take a walk with friends was so great that Hugo had to take scissors and make himself such a terrible haircut that he was ashamed to even stick his nose out of the house. After about a month, the hair, of course, grew back, but this time was just enough for the great lazy person to finish the book, working day and night.

Charles Darwin, 1809-1882, naturalist and traveler

Even as a schoolboy, Darwin preferred fishing to boring activities, and if he managed to be seated at a desk, in most cases he simply fell asleep. Parents still managed to identify a brilliant loafer in the university, but he rarely appeared at lectures. All free time(and there were many) young Darwin spent in a beer bar, periodically amusing himself by shooting crows with a slingshot. However, natural laziness did not prevent him from impressing the scientific community with the discovery that man descended from apes.

Idlers and Lazybones in History and Literature In ancient Rome, it was an honor and prestige to be lazy. After all, if a person does not work, this means that he is a free citizen who can do whatever his heart desires, and not some kind of slave. A respectable Roman was supposed to lie on a couch all day with a bunch of grapes and a jug of wine, and let the whole world wait.

*** The ancient Greeks in this sense did not lag behind the Romans, having created a whole philosophical movement, glorifying an idle lifestyle filled with sensual pleasures.

The followers of this doctrine - hedonists - believed that only pleasure is the highest good and the goal of life.

*** Ilya Muromets lay on the stove for 33 years, and still managed to accomplish many feats. And Emelya achieved success, financial well-being, the hand of the king's daughter and half the kingdom to boot, without getting off the stove at all. The old woman from The Tale of the Fisherman and the Fish, by the way, was also lazy, she wanted to live on everything prepared, but she managed to be both a noblewoman and a formidable queen, but she could not moderate her appetite in time. Well, it happens.

*** In the USSR, the natural desire of a person to work less and get more was called parasitism and began to be prosecuted. The list of parasites included such prominent people as the Nobel Prize winner in literature Joseph Brodsky and the actor Nikolai Godovikov, who played the Red Army soldier Petrukha in the cult film "White Sun of the Desert". In order not to be considered a parasite, Yuri Shevchuk, the founder of the DDT group, worked as a night watchman at the Avrora dairy cafe in Leningrad.

The founder of Marxism loved beautiful life and did not like to work. He only worked for a few months in his life. He was dependent on his mother for a long time, and after her death he lived at the expense of his wealthy friend Friedrich Engels.

Ideological views in no way prevented Engels from managing a cotton-spinning factory, which allowed him to support Marx and his entire large family without visible effort until the end of his life. In turn, the aversion to work did not prevent Marx from leaving a mark on history and creating the famous Capital.

In Colombia, there is officially a museum of laziness. On the territory of the museum, comfortable sofas and couches with a bunch of pillows are placed everywhere, hammocks are hung where you can lie down, relax, rest and even take a nap for an hour or two. The city authorities wanted to show how harmful this lifestyle is for a person, but judging by the happy and refreshed faces of visitors leaving the museum, they did not succeed.

South Koreans are recognized as the most fanatical workaholics in the world. Although the working day in Korean institutions ends at 16:30, the vast majority of employees stay at work until late, or rather, until the boss leaves home. If the Korean takes it into his head to take a vacation for at least a couple of weeks, then upon returning home he will most likely find that his workplace already occupied by a new, more industrious employee.

Introduction

How much time did you spend in the office this week? And how much time did you spend trudging with a dull look to work and wearily wandering home after a hard day's work?

Bret Easton Ellis, contemporary American writer Lying on the couch, eating fatty and swearing is USEFUL!

Psychologists from Germany have proven that one of the most effective means of dealing with stress is the use of profanity.

Famous lazy people and procrastinators of all time

Victor Hugo, 1802-1885, writer

All his free time (and there was a lot of it) young Darwin spent in a beer bar, periodically entertaining himself by shooting crows from a slingshot. However, natural laziness did not prevent him from impressing the scientific community with the discovery that man descended from apes.

The more work, the less time to remember something not unimportant. (And yet the world is beautiful (Soredemo Sekai wa Utsukushii.)

A person is so overworked at work in the office that later, from fatigue and holidays, he cannot enjoy it properly.

Franz Kafka, writer

Life is spent on making money.

Jonathan Foer, "Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close"

The unemployed are unhappy without work, the employed are unhappy from its excess.

Frederic Beigbeder, "99 francs"

Life is a thrill. Although being able to live interestingly is also work.

Irina Khakamada, politician

If you work to live, why kill yourself at work?

Film The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, dir. Sergio Leone

If drinking interferes with work, you need to quit ... work!

The series "Wild Angel", dir. Victor Stella

drunkenness is very responsible work, and I can't combine two jobs at once.

The film "The Third Act", dir. Robb Reiner

Idlers and loafers in history and literature

In ancient Rome, it was an honor and prestige to be lazy. After all, if a person does not work, this means that he is a free citizen who can do whatever his heart desires, and not some kind of slave. A respectable Roman was supposed to lie on a couch all day with a bunch of grapes and a jug of wine, and let the whole world wait.

* * *

The ancient Greeks in this sense did not lag behind the Romans, creating a whole philosophical movement that glorifies an idle lifestyle filled with sensual pleasures. The followers of this doctrine - hedonists - believed that only pleasure is the highest good and the goal of life.
