Grand Power T12

The Grand Power T12 pistol has been produced in Russia since 2011. The creator of this weapon is the Slovak company Grand Power. The pistol was created as a traumatic version of the 9 mm Grand Power K100 pistol. Having difficulty marketing its weapons in Europe, the company released a traumatic version of the weapon.

Initially, the Grand Power T10 pistol was designed for the 9x22 traumatic cartridge, similar to the Parabellum live cartridge. Almost no changes were made to the design of the pistol, with the exception of the barrel, which was made smooth, and a tooth was added to prevent firing live ammunition.


Shortcomings quickly became apparent. The 9x22 traumatic cartridge turned out to be somewhat shorter than the original ammunition, which led to frequent sticking of the cartridge when reloading the pistol. The second drawback of the weapon was the weakness of the powder sample. Automation could not cope with reloading. The cartridge did not have enough strength to distort the shutter.

To eliminate this drawback, the manufacturer began to put a weakened return spring on the gun. But this did not solve the problem of sticking the cartridge, and in 2010 a new model of the Grand Power T11 pistol and a new traumatic cartridge for it 10x28 were developed.

Since traumatic pistols were intended only for Russia, it was decided to produce cartridges for them in our country. This production was deployed at the AKBS plant. Fortuna is their subsidiary.

Despite their shortcomings, the T10 and T11 pistols have successfully entered the market for traumatic weapons. It should be noted that during this period, only gas pistols suitable for firing a rubber bullet were presented on it, the most formidable of which was Makarych's injury with a muzzle energy of 25 joules.


The manufacturing company continued to work on the pistol, trying to increase its accuracy. It should be noted that for an injury of that time, the ability to hit a silhouette target from three meters was considered sniper accuracy. The result was the T12 model, which lacked a pin in the barrel. The muzzle energy of this pistol reached 230 joules, which is only one and a half times less than that of a regular Makarov pistol.

Production in Russia

However, in 2011, Russia's laws on civilian weapons changed. Imported traumatic pistols were banned. The production of weapons had to be deployed at the domestic factories named after Degtyarev and AKBS.

Domestic pistols immediately had two fatal defects. In addition to the ban on the import of foreign weapons, the law additionally limited the maximum muzzle energy to 91 joules. I had to establish the production of cartridges with a reduced weight of gunpowder. The quality of ammunition from this immediately fell. The spread of muzzle energy could be from 90 to 60 joules for cartridges of one batch. In order to prevent pistols from firing with old powerful cartridges or reloading cartridges with a large amount of gunpowder, two grooves began to be made on the barrel.


There are still offers on the market for the sale of pre-reform 10x28 cartridges and their purchase is quite active. A pack of cartridges of 25 pcs. with a muzzle energy of 200 J. costs from 26 to 30 thousand rubles. The weight of gunpowder in these cartridges is 0.2 grams, and the weight of the bullet is approximately 1.7 grams. Cartridges with a muzzle energy of 240-250 J. cost 35-37 thousand rubles. The weight of gunpowder in them is 0.22 grams, and the weight of the bullet is 1.7-1.8 grams. Cartridges are redeemed from private owners.

The calculations were carried out poorly, and even with a weak cartridge, the barrel was often torn apart. Additionally, the old problem with the operation of automatic reloading has returned. I had to loosen the return spring again.

Grand Power T12-FM1

Finally, at the beginning of 2017, the company released the Grand Power T12-FM1 pistol, which does not have all these shortcomings. Grooves were removed from the barrel, two return springs are normally attached to the weapon. Together they give three possible mounting combinations depending on the cartridge type:

The weight of gunpowder in the cartridges was the same, the Grand Power 12T fm1 was used for testing. As a result, it was found that a bullet weighing 2.04 grams had a penetration depth of 7 mm and a cavity volume of 28 mm. In turn, a bullet weighing 1.2 grams had a penetration depth of 5 mm and a cavity volume of 25 mm. Shooting was carried out in a ballistic gel with cartridges with the same power of 81 joules.


This is consistent with aerodynamic calculations and allows us to conclude that cartridges with heavy bullets are much better for self-defense than light bullets. The fact is that the diameter of a heavy bullet is 12 mm, and a light one is 11.5.

Note that the bullets are superior to the caliber of the weapon, this is due to the fact that rubber ammunition is always used over-caliber.

The spindle is a two-bearing shaft mounted in a retractable sleeve. The regulation of the axial play in the spindle is carried out by grinding the rings 3 and 4. The increased play in the front bearing is eliminated by grinding the half rings 5 ​​and tightening the nut.

The adjustment is carried out in the following order:

  • the spindle sleeve is extended;
  • flange 6 is dismantled;
  • half rings are removed;
  • a screw plug is unscrewed on the right side of the head body;
  • through the hole, by unscrewing the screw 2, the nut 1 is unlocked;
  • nut 1 is locked with a steel rod. By turning the spindle for a cracker, the nut is tightened and this moves the inner race of the bearing. After checking the play in the bearing, the spindle is run in at the maximum speed. When working for an hour, the heating of the bearings should not exceed 60 ° C;
  • the size of the gap between the bearing and the shoulder of the spindle is measured, after which the semi-rings 5 ​​are polished to the required value;
  • half rings are put in place and fixed;
  • flange is screwed 6.

To eliminate a radial play of 0.01 mm, the half rings must be ground by approximately 0.12 mm.

The rotation of the spindle is transmitted from the gearbox through a pair of conical and a pair of cylindrical gear wheels mounted in the head.

The bearings and gears of the rotary head are lubricated from the frame pump, and the spindle bearings and the sleeve movement mechanism are lubricated by injection.

Gearbox mounted directly on the frame. The connection of the box with the motor shaft is carried out by an elastic coupling, which allows misalignment in the motor installation up to 0.5-0.7 mm.

Inspection of the gearbox can be done through the window on the right side.

Lubrication of the gearbox is carried out from a plunger pump (Fig. 9), driven by an eccentric. The pump output is about 2 l/min. Oil is supplied to the pump through a filter. From the pump, the oil enters the oil distributor, from which it is discharged through a copper tube to the peephole for monitoring the operation of the pump and through a flexible hose to the rotary head. The elements of the gearbox are lubricated by spraying oil coming from the holes of the oil distributor tube located above the gearbox.

Gear box allows you to select the desired speed without successive passage of intermediate stages.

Rail 19 (Fig. 10), moved by the switching handle 18, through the sector 15 through the fork 22 (Fig. 11) moves the main roller 29 with the switching disk 21 in the axial direction.

The shift disc can be turned with the speed indicator 23 through bevel gears 28 and 30. The disc has several rows certain size holes located against the pins of rails 31 and 33.

The rails are engaged in pairs with the gear wheel 32. A shift fork is attached to one of each pair of rails. When the disk is moved by pressing on the pin of one of the pair, the reciprocating movement of the rails is provided.

In this case, the forks at the end of the disk stroke take a position corresponding to the engagement of certain pairs of gears. To exclude the possibility of a hard stop of the gears when switching, the pins of the 20 racks are spring-loaded.

The fixation of the dial when choosing the speed is provided by the ball 27, which jumps into the groove of the sprocket 24.

The adjustment of the spring 25 is made by the plug 26, taking into account the precise fixation of the limb and the normal force when it is turned.

The handle 18 (see Fig. 10) in the on position is held by the spring 17 and the ball 16. In this case, the spike of the handle enters the groove of the flange.

Correspondence of the speeds to the values ​​indicated on the pointer is achieved by a certain position of the bevel gears along the engagement. The correct engagement is established by the cores at the ends of the mating tooth and cavity or by setting the pointer to the speed position of 31.5 rpm and the disk with forks to the speed position of 31.5 rpm (for machine tools of models 6T12B, the corresponding speed is 50 rpm) . The gap in the gearing of the conical pair should not be more than 0.2 mm, since the disc can turn up to 1 mm due to this.

Gearbox lubrication is carried out from the gearbox lubrication system by spraying oil.
