The principle of operation of the spray booth

The pre-cleaned product is fed along the belt conveyor to the spray booth. Coating of coatings is carried out with 4 (four) or 8 (eight) spray guns, mounted on 4 pcs. on one or two transversely moving carriages. The carriage with the help of a brushless motor performs a reciprocating motion perpendicular to the movement of the conveyor belt on which the part is located.

The guns turn on at the moment of passing the part and paint its upper face and all edges.

The dimensions and position of the part are read by a special sensor (photo-optical ruler) at the entrance of the machine, then the guns automatically paint the area where the part is located, thus saving a significant amount of paint.
The feed rate of the workpiece, the speed of movement of the carriage with spray guns is set by the operator on the touch-screen display of the control panel. Paint (varnish) consumption, air pressure in the lines are also regulated from the control panel or on paint spray guns.

The entire operation of the machine is controlled by an industrial controller.
After painting, the part leaves the spray booth and can be fed further into the through-type drying tunnel.

performance and economy.
A modern automatic spray booth of a walk-through type allows you to significantly increase productivity compared to the classic manual method of application.

Automatic system controlling the on-off of the guns only at the moment the product passes through the application zone, it can significantly save paint and varnish consumption.

Design features:

conveyor system
The movement of the workpiece inside the machine is carried out by means of a conveyor belt that is resistant to solvents and other aggressive materials.
It is planned to clean the tape after it leaves the spray booth to avoid getting paint residues on reverse side products.

Spray zone
Application of coatings takes place in an isolated chamber, equipped with supply and exhaust ventilation and an explosion-proof lighting lamp. Air is supplied to the chamber through two wide distribution panels at the top of the cabin. Due to this, a uniform air flow is created in the chamber, the direction of which coincides with the direction of the spray torches. Such a scheme contributes to an even and high-quality application of paintwork materials on the surface of both flat and milled (profile) parts and excludes any dust from entering the painting area from the outside.

Access to the spray booth is through glass inspection doors on the right side of the machine, which are manually opened and equipped with a safety interlock. Thanks to this, the operator has access to the spray area for maintenance and adjustment of the guns and can constantly monitor the operation of the machine. Inspection doors have an additional seal.

Painting unit
The 4 spray guns are mounted on a movable carriage that reciprocates at right angles to the direction of the parts feed. The movement is carried out by means of a synthetic toothed belt driven by a brushless motor, which ensures the correct acceleration and deceleration of the carriage.

Thanks to the glazed inspection doors, the operator has access to the spray area for maintenance and adjustment of the guns and can constantly monitor the operation of the machine.
The position of the guns is adjustable horizontally and vertically, which allows you to set the optimal direction of the spray jets to the part.

Paint supply and application
Paint (lacquer) is supplied to the guns under pressure using a diaphragm or piston pump (depending on the type of spray).

Thanks to the optical ruler, which reads the position of the products on the tape before entering the painting area, the switching on and off of the guns (spraying coatings) occurs depending on the size, configuration and feed rate of the part.

Tape cleaning
Cleaning of the conveyor belt from the paint that has fallen on it is carried out at the exit with the help of a steel doctor blade. In this case, the paint is drained into a container using an automatic scraper and can be reused depending on the properties of the paint itself. The doctor blade has a plastic tip in the contact area to avoid abrasive effects on the tape.

For the final cleaning of the tape, two rotating shafts are used with a supply of solvent (or cleaning solution, depending on the paint used).

Air preparation unit
At the top of the machine is an air preparation unit that filters and supplies air through two distribution ceiling panels to the spray area of the machine. Due to this, the penetration of dust into the area of application of paintwork materials and ingress on the painted product is excluded.

Air filtration and exhaust ventilation
Inside the spray zone, on both sides of the conveyor belt, there are wide extraction panels with dry filters made of cellular cardboard with a large area. This system quickly and effectively traps solid particles of paint, eliminates varnish fog and maintains cleanliness in the painting area, as well as provides a uniform and constant air flow in the application area.

Air is removed from the painting area by a special explosion-proof fan, which is located on a special support. Before being released outside or into the general ventilation system, the air, in addition to the dry filter, passes through a synthetic fine filter that traps most of the harmful impurities.

The applied filtration and exhaust ventilation system provides a high degree of air purification and makes the machine safe for personnel and the environment

optical rail
At the entrance of the machine, an optical rail is installed, which scans the moment of the passage of the part, its dimensions, position on the conveyor belt with a high resolution (7mm) and sends the data to the controller for the appropriate control of the guns.

This system allows you to save a significant amount of paintwork materials in mass and small-scale production.

Electronic system and control panel
CNC ensures the operation of the machine in automatic mode in accordance with the specified program.

The modern control panel is equipped with a touch screen controller. With its help, all machine functions are controlled: feed rate, carriage speed, gun settings, paint feed delay time. The specified settings can be written as independent programs and stored in the memory of the CNC.

Principle of operation:

Between the two conveyor belts there is a gap through which the paint is fed into the paint head by means of a pump immersed directly in the paint tank. At the bottom of the aluminum paint head there are adjustable stainless steel plates that create a lacquer curtain that flows through the gap between the conveyors into the receiving tank.

The speed of the conveyor belt and the height of the painting head above the working table are easily adjustable. The part to be painted, passing along the receiving conveyor, is polished with a rotating brush and passes through a continuous varnish curtain, where it is covered with exactly the amount of varnish for which the painting head was set. Excess varnish at the edges of the part falls into a receiving tank for reuse. To clean the machine, all you have to do is immerse the pump in the solvent tank and run the solvent through the paint head until it is clean.

Roller coating technology provides direct contact transfer of coatings to the part by an application roller covered with rubber of one or another hardness.

UV curing acrylic materials with 100% solids are ideally suited for this technology.

The rollers can apply a viscous material so there is no need to add solvent, which allows for very compact lines.

Edge finishing can be done by spraying or on special roller machines.

Given that acrylic UV materials do not dry until they receive a dose of UV radiation, many manufacturers wash their rollers no more than once a week, keeping paint loss to a negligible amount.

Photo of the roller machine from the site https://renner.ru/equipment-selection/roller-machine/

The application roller may have grooves of about 3 for each mm into which the applied coating falls. Such a number of grooves ensures the application of paintwork materials with a thicker layer, up to 50 g / sq.m. when applied with two such rollers wet-on-wet.

Conventional roller mill, direct rotation

Direct rotation - the applying roller rotates along the conveyor belt, the dosing roller - along the way, as shown in the previous scheme of the roller machine. This mode is used for applying stains, primers with a consumption of 10-40 g/m2.

Precision roller mill

Precision roller mill- it is usually used for applying finishing layers of varnish on parquet. It differs from the usual one in that the dosing shaft rotates in the opposite direction and pulls the paintwork up. This allows to reduce the applied amount of coatings to 5-10 g/sq.m.

This mode requires squeegee- a knife-like part of the machine, returning the paintwork from the dosing roller back to the gap between the rollers.

Reverse rotation mode, or reverse

Reverse rotation mode, or reverse - both rollers rotate in directions opposite to those shown in the figure, that is, at the point of contact with the tape, the surface of the applying roller moves against the movement of the tape.

The dosing roller is pressed against the applying roller, while the coating does not pass between the rollers, but is lifted by the applying roller and removed from it by a conveyor belt.

This scheme provides a very smooth coating with the ability to apply thicker layers. Used for applying primers and top coats.

Double head roller mills

Double head roller mills- consist of two consecutive pairs of rollers. Usually the direction and speed of rotation of the rollers in modern machines regulated independently.

The SPM1300FA automatic machine is designed for applying fluorocarbon paint to furniture panels. Differs in high productivity. Maximum performance is achieved through the use of a brush machine for parts cleaning, IR and UV drying. A high-quality coating is provided by several spray guns that paint over complex reliefs of parts. The quality of the paint layer is promoted by the supply of clean air to the painting area through forced ventilation with filtration unit.
The presence of two independent varnish supply circuits provides an instant transition from one material to another (for example, from primer to varnish). At the input of the machine there is a rail with photocells that reads the position of the part and its size, transmits information to the CNC that controls the guns. This prevents paint wastage. Saving paint and varnish materials and expanding their range is facilitated by the return system of paintwork materials from the conveyor belt. It also performs the function of protecting operating personnel from harmful production factors.
The principle of operation of the machine is that the cleaned part is fed through the conveyor to the spray booth. The coating is applied spray guns mounted on special carriages that move back and forth with respect to the moving part. The smooth adjustment of the carriage speed contributes to the achievement of the best effect. The operator, using the CNC panel and the touch-screen touch display, sets the paint consumption, the speed of the workpiece and the carriages. The part that comes out of the spray booth is fed to the drying tunnel.
The paint is sprayed in an insulated chamber in which a supply and exhaust ventilation and explosion-proof lighting lamp. Air supply is carried out in the upper part of the cabin through distribution panels. The direction of the air flow and spray jets coincide and contribute to the application of an even, high-quality coating. The ingress of dust into the painting area is completely excluded. Blanks can be either flat or milled.
The inspection door allows the operator to monitor the process and adjust the guns. The paint falling on the conveyor belt is scraped off with a steel doctor blade. It is then collected in containers and reused. The final cleaning of the belt is carried out by two rotating brush rollers and a clean solvent fed by a pump.
